Background information

Smoking among young adolescents has become a growing issue, in the south Amelia’s ward Linden
Guyana community. The adolescents in that area have become prone to smoking, alcoholism and drug
use. for a certain number of generations, this causes them to be lackadaisical towards their health. the
researcher had a personal experience to that lifestyle, when a family member of hers was involved with
a person from that area. He would spend all the money that he worked for on marijuana, and if he didn’t
have enough, he would steal stuff from our home or he would get very violent, and a lot of his teeth
were decayed. And his body had started to deform, he could never Remain focused when he didn’t get
his blunt. These are some of the side effects of smoking according to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention., cancer, smoking can cause lung cancer and in almost anywhere on the body. This includes
the lips, tongue, mouth, nose, esophagus, throat, voice box, stomach, liver, kidney, pancreas, bladder,
blood, cervix, vulva, penis and anus. Breathing problems and chronic respiratory conditions, COPD
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (, a serious, progressive and disabling condition that limits airflow
in the lungs. Active smoking also worsens asthma in active smokers and is associated with an increased
risk for asthma in adolescents and adults. Heart disease, stroke and blood circulation problems Diabetes,
Infections. Smoking also weakens the immune system so you’re more likely to get bacterial and viral
infections. Dental problems Hearing loss, Vision loss Osteoporosis and menopause and even fertility
problems. Some factors that can contribute to this trend of increase smoking among teenager are peer
pressure, media influence, environmental influence, lack of knowledge about how harmful smoking is
and the damage it does to the body and even mental health issues. These are some factors that
influence the increase of smoking among young adolescents, In that area.
Problem statement: How rapid increase of smoking among adolescents has resulted in an increase of lung cancer
in the south amelia’s ward district.

Research objective: To investigate how the effects of increase smoking among young adolescents has led to lung
cancer.
