Flying or Riding?
Have you ever felt you were flying while riding your bike? Well, that’s how
I feel every time I go for a ride. I moved to Cambridge about a year now
and it’s a city famous for being bike-friendly – perhaps because it’s so flat.
So I decided to buy a bike. At first, it was just to go to work but I enjoyed it
so much that I also started cycling for fun.
At the beginning, I just rode around the city alone – going through some of
the parks and down by the riverside. Then, I discovered a group of people who like getting out and
about at the weekend. So I joined up and started going out with them most Saturdays.
We don’t usually go very far – normally only 20-25 miles and we don’t race. The idea is just to enjoy the
day and we normally end up in one of the local villages and share a meal or picnic before heading back
into the city.
I enjoy cycling because it’s of course good exercise and I like keeping fit. It allows me to get out of the
crowded city and see some of the wonderful countryside. But it’s a bit more than that. It makes me feel
completely free!
