SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter presented a brief and general overview of the study concerns as

covered in chapter 1 to 4. The results of gathered data, statistical analysis, and

interpretation of findings in chapter 4 became the basis in formulating the summary,

and conclusion of this study. The derived recommendation was established based on

the summary and conclusions as thoroughly presented and discussed herein.

Summary

Relative to the topologies of disputes, results of this study showed that disputes

between debtor and creditor ranked first and it was always file int the barangay.

dispute related to sexual and gender-based offices ranked last and was rarely filed in

the barangay.

Relative to major causes of disputes, the results of this study showed that

information conflict is the major cause of disputes filed in the barangay followed by

interest conflict, values conflict, and relation conflict as the least cause of disputes

filed in the barangay.

Relative to the strategies, the results of this showed that Ground Rule ranked as

the top strategy utilized by the Lupong Tagapamayapa. It also found out that Ground

Rules, Codes of Conduct for Intervenors, Sequencing Strategies and Tactic, Option

Identification, Focusing on Commonalities, Creating Safe Spaces for Communication,

Conflict Assessments, Convening Processes, Reframing, and Ripeness-Promoting

Strategies are very effective in resolving disputes and averting violence. Action-

Forcing Mechanism ranked as the least strategy utilized by the Lupong

Tagapamayapa. It aligned with the result of this study that it was less effective in

resolving disputes and averting violence.

Conclusions

This study was conducted to assess the Barangay Justice System in Poblacion,

Cauayan City, Isabela. Further, the researcher aimed to identify the topologies of

disputes filed in the barangay, its major cause, the strategies utilized by the Lupong

Tagapamayapa and its effectiveness in resolving disputes and averting violence.

Therefore, the result of this study showed that dispute between debtor and creditor is

the most common type of dispute as it was always filed in the barangay. Information

conflict is the major cause of majority of disputes is the barangay. And lastly, Ground

Rule is the top strategy utilized by the Lupong Tagapamayapa and its very effective in

resolving disputes and averting violence.

Recommendation

This study can be interpreted as a first step in the research of assessing

Barangay Justice System in Cauayan City focusing on topologies of disputes, its major

cause, and the strategies to utilized in resolving it and averting violence. However, the

result of this study should be treated with caution due to the limited ample size

highlighting only the Poblacion and lack of details regarding the participant’s

characteristics.

For the DILG – Cauayan. The results of this study can be their basis for

conducting trainings and seminars related to resolving disputes filed in the barangay,

focusing on types of disputes, its major causes, and identifying strategies that were

effective in resolving disputes and averting violence.

For the Lupong Tagapamayapa. The result of this study can help them in the

improvement of their mediation processes and lessen the number of unresolved

disputes in the barangay level.

For the Future Researcher. similar studies can be conducted covering all 65

barangays in Cauayan City including the cases reports in the barangay to make a

connection between topologies of disputes, its major causes, strategies utilized, and its

effect in the number of resolved and unresolved disputes in the barangay.
