DESCRIPTION:
A technical sales representative combines technical knowledge with sales skills. The emphasis of the work varies depending on the level of technical knowledge and understanding needed to sell competently the product or service offered and respond effectively to clients' queries.

Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills Attention to detail with the ability to promote sales Ability to build and maintain good customer relations Work independently as well as with a team
EDUCATION:
A university degree or college diploma is usually required Experience in sales or a technical occupation related to the product or service may be required Must stay up to date on scientic and industrial products, telecommunications or computer products and services

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
In the Civil Engineering Technology diploma program you gain a balanced education in civil engineering theory, combined with practical work in laboratories and in the eld. Specialization takes place through a third-year major project. You become familiar with the structural properties of timber, steel, masonry and concrete and study the design of roads, water distribution and sewage and drainage systems. The major business aspects of civil engineering are also covered, as are technical communications skills.

You can begin by applying for a job directly in the Civil Construction Industry. Once you begin working with a Construction Company or Contractor you will quickly gain the necessary skills needed to advance yourself through in-house, work-as-you-learn training. You can enrol in a University, Community College or a Private Technical School to study and prepare yourself for a Career in Civil Construction. All of this information may be found through our website. You can get started through an apprenticeship program by combining on the job training with technical in-class training gaining experience and increased responsibility. You can work in the industry, get paid and work towards earning credits.
