Daily Lesson plan in Mathematics

Date: Module no: Lesson no: Duration:

I. OBJECTIVES
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of sequences.
A. Content Standards:

The learner is able to formulate and solve problems involving sequences indifferent
B. Performance Standard:
disciplines through appropriate and accurate representations.

C. Learning Competency: Solves problems involving sequences.

Solve problems involving arithmetic sequence

D. Learning Objectives:

II. CONTENT/SUBJECT MATTER: SEQUENCES

IV. PROCEDURE
A. REVIEW
The sum of the first 10 terms of an arithmetic sequence is 530. What is the first term if the last term is 80? What is
the common difference?

B. PRIMING
Find the sum of the first 12 terms of the arithmetic sequence whose general term is an = 3n + 5.

C. ACTIVITY
It is alarming that many people now are being infected by HIV. As the president of the student body in your school,
you invited people to give a five-day series of talks on HIV and its prevention every first Friday of the month from 12
noon to 1pm in the auditorium. On the first day, 20 students came. Finding the talk interesting, 20 students shared
the talk to other students and 10 more students came on the second day, another 10 more students came on the
third day, and so on. Assuming that the number of participants continues to increase in the same manner, make a
table representing the number of participants from day 1 of talk until day 5. Use a formula to justify your data in the
table.

D. ANALYSIS
1. Were you able to accomplish the activity?
2. How did you find it?
3. Was it easy to answer the problem given to you?

E. ABSTRACTION
Word problem can also be solved using arithmetic sequence.

Example:
In a classroom of 40 students, each student counts off by fours. What is the sum of the students’ numbers?
Solution:
The sequence 4, 8, 12, 16,…form an arithmetic sequence with a1 = 4 and d = 4. The sum of these numbers is
denoted by S40 since there are 40 students counting off, thus:

S40 = 40/2 (4 + a40) but,

a40 = 4 + (40 – 1) 4
= 4 + 156
= 160 then,
F. APPLICATION
Answereachproblem:

1. A sari-sari store sells1100 worth of products during its first week. The owner of the sari-sari store has set a
goal of increasing his weekly sales by 500 each week for 10 weeks. If we assume that this goal is met, find
the total sales during the first 11 weeks this store is in operation.
2. There are 20 guests in a party. If each guest shakes hands with all other guests, how many shake hands
will be made?

G. EVALUATION
Answereachproblem:
1. Mr. Garcia bought a lot at the beginning of year 2200 for 50000. If it increased1100 in value each year, how
much is it worth at the end of 2025?
2. Find the seating capacity of a movie house 40 row of seats if there are 25 seats in the first row, 28 seats in
the second row, 31in the third row, and so on.

H. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITY (5-5-5)

I. REMEDIATION ACTIVITY

V. REFLECTION
B. No. of learners C. Did the remedial
A. No. of learners who require lessons work? D. No of Learners
Sections who earned 80% additional No. of learners who who continue to

remediation lesson.

E. Which of my teaching strategies worked well?

Why did this work?

F. What difficulties did my principal or supervisor

can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/ discover which I wish to share with other
teachers?
