Task-based Language Teaching

25 min- Step 1 - Introduction


- it’ll have a Task-based Language Teaching simulation class;
- In this simulation we will draw a circle on the board with the word “party” on it;
- Discuss the question “What would make a good party?”
- Write food around the circle to show how students have to answer;
- Write around the circle students’ answers;
- Ask if any particular answer is right;
- Ask “ What about ______?”
- Start the activity below;

Step 2 - Putting the activity in practise

Activity: Planning a Surprise Party for a close friend

Procedure:
1. Divide the class into small groups.
2. Explain the scenario: "You and your group are planning a surprise party
for a close friend. You have a limited budget and must decide on various
aspects of the party."
3. Provide each group with a list of elements they need to consider when
planning the party, including:
- Theme and decorations.
- Guest list and invitations.
- Food and drinks.
- Entertainment or games.
- Budget allocation.
Their choice must contain at least 2 arguments justifying their decisions.
4. They will choose in group all these topics. Here, they will discuss and
regarding these party elements.
5. Each group will have 5 minutes for the groups to plan the surprise party.
6. Have each group present their party plan to the class, explaining their
choices and the rationale behind them.
7. Finish the class congratulating them, and saying that next class will have a
specific activity.
