Introduction
Each and every bacterium causes good and bad not only in our environment but also
inside a human body. The provision of antimicrobial agents is crucial because some of them
have become resistant. The researchers would like to figure out the effect of carabao grass
(Paspalum conjugatum) extract and garden snail (Cornus aspersum) mucin against a specific
bacteria called the Enterobacteriaceae.
Enterobacteriaceae are gram-negative type of bacteria with more than 100 species.
According to research, some members of the Enterobacteriaceae produce endotoxins that,
when released into the bloodstream following cell lysis (destruction), cause a systemic
inflammatory and vasodilatory response. The most severe form of this is known as endotoxic
shock, which can be rapidly fatal. The researchers came up with the idea of exterminating some
enterobacteriaceae spp. through addition of certain antimicrobial agents together in the
formation of more potent and lethal agent to stop the multiplication of bacterial organism.
The researchers would like to know the effect of carabao grass (Paspalum conjugatum) extract
in addition to garden snail (Cornus aspersum) mucin in terms of behavioral activity of the
enterobacteriaceae. The researchers will then gather up all the information included in the
experimental activity to prove the effectivity of carabao grass extract and garden snail mucin if
the bacterial multiplication is going to lessen or exterminate the bacteria itself.
Statement of the Problem
1. To learn how effective the antimicrobial synergistic effect of Carabao Grass (Paspalum
conjugatum) and garden snail (Cornus aspersum) mucin against Enterobacteriaceae
2. To learn efficiency of the individual effect of garden snail (Cornus aspersum) mucin and
carabao grass (Paspalum conjugatum) extracts as an antimicrobial agent against
Enterobacteriaceae
3. To learn the difference between the synergistic effects of garden snail (Cornus aspersum)
mucin and carabao grass (Paspalum conjugatum) extracts compared to their individual effects as
an antimicrobial agent
