Task 1: MY REFLECTION

MY DEVELOPMENT JORNEY

Change is not static, everyone of us undergoes change. Developmental change is the

process of change that occurs in human beings throughout life. Gene expression, brain function,
cognitive processes, behavior, and environmental factors all involve multiple cross-level
interactions, and all are characterized by dynamic developmental change over time. Just like any
other individual, I have also experienced series of developmental change in many forms from
birth up to now.

We are all born with specific genetic traits inherited from our parents, such as eye color,
height, and certain personality traits. Beyond our basic genotype, however, there is a deep
interaction between our genes and our environment: Our unique experiences in our environment
influence whether and how particular traits are expressed, and at the same time, our genes
influence how we interact with our environment. I am who I am now because of both nature and
nurture. My genes may have predetermined what will I likely be, yet my environment has played
a huge part into who I am now. From infancy to early adulthood which I belong now, I have
gone through developmental changes in all aspect of my life which leads to maturity. From the
way I speak, the way I behave, the way I think and the way I perceive life, I am now molded to a
responsible human being who thinks rationally and can weigh what is wrong from right.

The series of change had brought me to where I am now and as I step closer to adulthood,
I will bring all the learnings from those changes to better understand myself and other people.
The pattern may be the same, but the phasing of change vary from one person to another. As an
educator, it is essential for me to distinguish the differences and to get to know them one by one
in order for me to provide for their needs regardless of the differences. My ultimate goal is still
to provide and contribute to their development, for my experiences will guide me as I am to
teach and to impact. I know that my development journey had made me into a better person and I
am much excited to push my learners to be better.
