D. Values Focus
Appreciate the importance of mixtures in everyday activities.
III. Procedure:

Teacher’s Activity Pupil’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities

Everybody please stand up and let’s (pupils stand up)

have a prayer

Arianne can you lead the prayer? Yes Ma’am

Classmates, please bow your head and

feel the presence of our Almighty lord.

Good afternoon class Good afternoon Teacher’s

Who are absent for today? None maam.

Well, that’s good to know that you had

perfect attendance.

Okay, you may take your seat. Thank you ma’am.

1. Motivation
Let’s have an activity, I want you to stay
focused as we go on with our activity.

For further understanding about this topic,

let’s begin.

Picture Analysis

I can see a..

What are the things that you can see in - Pepper
pizza? - Cheese
- Tomato
Very Good. - Sausage
- Dough

What about coffee? In coffee it has a..

- Coffee beans or powder
- Sugar
- Hot water

And last picture, what things you can see There is a..
in the sandwich? - slices of meat,
- cheese
- vegetables
- ham
- two slices of bread

Very good everyone, all of your answers

are correct.

2. Activity
Pre-Activity
Class we have here a pictures, so what you
are going to do is to look and observe the
experiment/picture.

They are both paint.

What do you see in the experiment?
It is composed of two colors.

It can create other color which is color

What happens when the two colors mix?
green.

Very good. Next picture.

What about this picture? What are the A different kind of Medicines
things that you can see here?

What shapes and colors do you see? Circles and Oval shapes Color white,
blue, pink and yellow.

In this picture shows of what thing?

It shows a Primary and Secondary
Colors
What colors do you see from the picture?
Red, Yellow, Blue and Orange, Green,
Violet
3. Analysis
Very good everyone, all of your answer are
correct. The pictures that you have seen
are the examples of mixtures

- A mixture is a collection of different

materials.
- A material made up of two or more
different substances which are physically
combined.
- A combination of different qualities,
things, or emotions in which the
component elements are individually
distinct.
Example: Sugar and Water, if we combined

this two substances mixture is formed.

- Mixtures can be further classified as

either Homogeneous or
Heterogeneous.

A Homogeneous mixture is a gaseous,

liquid or solid mixture that has the same
proportions of its components throughout a
given sample.
- Homo - means “the same”
- Invisible/you cannot see the different
phases or parts.

Example: When we combine Hot water and

Coffee powder and mix it.

What did you notice in the mixture of

water and coffee powder? When you mix water and instant coffee,
a physical change occurs.
Very Good.

Let’s proceed to this diagram.

What can you notice about the particles of

the two combined substances in (Students raise his/her hand)
Homogeneous Mixture? Teacher, as I observed in the diagram, it
has a consistent arrangement.

Here are the other examples of

homogeneous mixtures: (showing pictures)
Sea water
Vinegar

Anyone, Who can give other example of

Homogeneous Mixture found at home/ in Teacher, these are examples of
the kitchen? homogeneous mixtures that can found
in my home such as sugar and water

At our kitchen, there is salt and water,

Very good. soft drinks, lemonade.

Okay class, Let's proceed with another type

of mixtures.

A Heterogeneous mixture is when the

components are not uniformly distributed
or contain more than one state of matter.
- Hetero-means "Different"
- Visible/you can see the phases/parts
- Easy to determine the substances

Let’s proceed to the diagram of

Heterogeneous Mixture.

Here are the examples of Heterogeneous

mixtures: (showing pictures/video)
Oil and water
Soil
Soda

What are the other examples of

Heterogeneous Mixtures? These are examples of heterogeneous
mixtures found in my home such as
Paper, Wood, Sandwich.

4. Abstraction
Again, What are the two types of mixtures?
The two types of mixture are,
Homogeneous and Heterogenous.

Good, What is the differences of the two

mixtures? Homogenous mixture is difficult to
determine the substances while
Heterogenous it’s easy to determine the
substances.

( Student raise his/her hand)

What do you think that mixture is

important? The mixture is important because of the
following ways: It is required for the
occurring of the crucial chemical
processes that support life in living
beings.

5. Application
Listen to my instructions carefully. I will
give some puzzle pictures in every group
that may be familiar to all of you. Arrange,
analyze and observe the completed puzzle
pictures.

Write the answers on the given chart Okay maam

whether the picture shows a Homogeneous
or Heterogeneous Mixture and explain.

Lemonade – Homogeneous
Lugaw /Arozzcaldo - Heterogeneous

Halo-Halo - Heterogeneous

Flour and Cornstarch - Homogeneous

Are you done class?

Yes maam

Okay, please assign one representative

each group to present your work. (Pupils present their work)
IV. Evaluation
Put the picture in "HM" if the mixture is Homogeneous and put the picture in
"HT" if the mixture is Heterogeneous.
1. Fruit Salad HT

2. Milk and Cereal HT

3. Salt and Water HM

4. Sugar and Water HM

5. Milkshake HM

6. Oil and Water HT

7. Soda and Ice HT

8. Pancit HT

9. Taho HT

10. Air HM

V. Assignment
Define the following:
1. Solution
2. Solute
3. Solvent
