Power of smile
Case 1
In a situation where a doctor is performing endodontic treatment on
patients since 8:30 in the morning and is currently attending to the 4th
patient, with the time being exactly 5 minutes past 12 in the noon,
there is a dilemma. Although the dental treatment of the 4th patient is
almost finished, the doctor's 5th patient is waiting in the waiting area,
and their appointment was scheduled for 12:15. Additionally, the
doctor is experiencing a coffee craving.

What should he do?

Case 2
A post-graduate trainee is in the final month of his four-year FCPS training and is simultaneously preparing for
his FCPS Part 2 exam. His duty for the day involves supervising final-year students who are treating patients.
While sitting in the post-graduate (PG) room, he intends to revise and review the latest articles from the
Journal of Endodontics for his exam.

A student enters the room, seeking guidance regarding a specific clinical situation. The student is unsure
whether to continue excavating the deep caries in a Class 2 cavity or stop, as he feels the caries is extensive.
The PG trainee attentively listens to the student and advises him to go back to the patient and continue
excavating until the caries is no longer soft.

Shortly after, the student returns and shares that he has excavated further but is uncertain about whether he
should continue, as doing so might expose the pulp. In response, the PG trainee asks the student to go back to
the patient and wait for two minutes, assuring him that he will be present shortly.

What should he do???

Case 3

• In this scenario, a male patient in his 50s arrives at your clinic with severe pain in his
upper right second molar. The current time is 1:50 PM, and the sign-out time for the
hospital is scheduled for 2 PM. The question is, what should you do in this situation?
