The electrostatic precipitator makes it possible to remove dust from flue gas. For this purpose, it uses
the electrostatic force operating on these particles of dust. As a result of high voltage, particles of dust
receive an electric charge. Due to this, with the use of electrophoresis, the dust is deposited on the
electrode with the opposite charge.

DIODE: Electrostatic precipitator's

OPERATION MODE

The electrostatic precipitator's operation is based on the precipitation of dust from the stream of flue
gas and its deposition on the surface of cumulative electrodes under the effect of the electrostatic force.
The electrostatic precipitator contains: a corona electrode, a fastening bar with a ceramic insulator, a
cover made from acid-resistant steel, as well as a power supply unit with a high voltage generator.
The corona electrode generating corona discharges is made from steel wire with sharpened tips. The
electrode was placed in a central position in the flue gas duct by means of the fastening bar. The system
of insulated electrodes is fed with high voltage by means of a high voltage generator. The discharge
electrode consists of the earthed walls of the chimney duct (made from acid-resistant steel). The dust,
which is precipitated from flue gas, is deposited on the walls. The device has a number of electronic
protections that guarantee its correct operation and automatically switch it off if the boiler does not
operate.
The electrostatic precipitator is also characterized by a simple installation process and ease of operation.

The controller has the following operation modes:

1. Not Initiated.
2. Stand-By.
3. Operation.
4. Alarm Operation.
5. Alarm

Not Initiated - after switching on, the ST-360 controller sets itself to its "Not initiated" status - in this
status, the current temperature of flue gas and the presence of the 50Hz signal is checked. If there is
a lack of or damage to the flue gas sensor, or a lack of the 50Hz signal is detected, the controller
switches to alarm mode. Otherwise, the device switches to stand-by.

-6-
Tech

Stand-By - the controller waits for an increase in temperature, as measured in the chimney. While in
this mode, when the accumulation of temperature in the pre-set time is detected by a defined quantity
of degrees calculated from the fan activation threshold, or after the temperature necessary to activate
the fan is reached, the controller states that a fire is being ignited or is already present in the boiler.
The fan is switched on to protect the electrode against the deposits of dust. The fan switches off if the
temperature drops below the activation threshold. If the flue gas temperature reaches the pre-set
temperature for operation, the electrostatic precipitator proceeds to the status "operation".

Operation – a high voltage is switched on in this phase. When the device increases the voltage and
does not detect the correctly increasing voltage (increase by 5 gears), an electrode short-circuit error
(E3) is reported. Otherwise, the device starts operation. The voltage is increased every time until the
pre-set voltage is reached. When ‘over-voltage’ is detected, the controller proceeds to the "Not initiated"
status and the start-up procedure is repeated again. The information on over-voltage is stored for a
given period of time. The electrostatic precipitator proceeds to the emergency operation mode if more
over – the voltage events are saved than their given number.

Emergency Operation - voltage in this mode will not be increased above the voltage level from when
the over-voltage occurred. If the voltage generated in emergency mode is insufficient for correct
operation, the device enters into alarm mode.

Not Initiated
This is the status immediately after the start-up and detection of over-voltage. In this mode, the device
checks the correctness of parameters and performs the first measurements.

Fan - Switched off

High Voltage - switched off.
Display - shows the software version number.

Stand-By
The device proceeds to this status if the status "Not
initiated" is ended correctly. If the required operation parameters from this status are reached, it is
possible to proceed to the operation status.
Fan - this is switched on after the detection of a temperature increase, or after reaching the temperature
of absolute activation.
High Voltage - switched off.
Display - current flue gas temperature.

Operation
The device proceeds to this status from stand-by, after reaching the required flue gas temperature.
After a decrease in flue gas temperature below the required value reduced by hysteresis, the device
proceeds to stand-by.
The device operates in two modes.
1. Regular Operation - the entire acceptable range of mosfet operation is used. The device aims to
achieve 17-19kV.
2. Emergency Operation - in the case of detecting a given quantity of over-voltages in the pre-set time,
the device switches into emergency operation mode. The mosfet operation range is limited to the last
correctly measured voltage. If the last correct voltage is insufficient to achieve the minimum voltage
16kV, the device switches off reporting an alarm.
Fan - switched on.
High Voltage - switched on.
Display - displays the letter:
P - regular operation.

Alarm
After detecting an alarm situation, the device switches into the alarm status. The only way to return

-7-

from this status is to restart the device.
Fan - switched on.
High Voltage - switched off.
Display - displays the flashing letter E as well as the error number.

Alarms in the ST-360 are shown in a display with three segments. In the form of letter "E" and the
error number, the sign flashes. If the device detects more than one error causing an alarm, the sign
will change in cycles in intervals of three seconds.
The device cannot return from alarm mode. The only way to exit the alarm mode is to disconnect the
ST-360 from the power supply. High voltage is switched off under every circumstance in the alarm
mode (generator and mosfet control), with the fan blowing air into the electrostatic precipitator's
chamber is switched on.
Alarms by numbers:
1. Damaged Flue Gas Sensor - damaged or disconnected flue gas sensor.
2. No 50Hz Measurement. - no 50Hz measurement, necessary for the correct mosfet control. This error
is also possible if the acceptable ranges of operation are exceeded.
3. No Possibility to Activate the Mosfet - the device detects a short circuit of electrodes when activation
is attempted. Measurement is performed from the 10th gear. In special cases of an electrode short-
circuit, error number 4 is possible.
4. Operation Above the Pre-Set Threshold - the controller has reached the acceptable maximum gear,
but the pre-set value was not reached.
5. Operation Below Pre-Set Threshold - pre-set below the limit of 18kV was reached. In the event of
errors 3 to 5, it is necessary to perform maintenance activities as well as cleaning the electrodes.
NOTE: The user should make sure that the electrodes are earthed.

Care for the natural environment is our priority. Being aware of the fact that we manufacture
electronic devices obligates us dispose of used elements and electronic equipment in a manner
which is safe for nature. As a result, the company has received a registry number assigned
by the Main Inspector of Environmental Protection. The symbol of a crossed out rubbish bin
on a product means that the product must not be thrown out to ordinary waste bins. By
segregating waste intended for recycling, we help protect the natural environment. It is the
user's responsibility to transfer waste electrical and electronic equipment to the selected
collection point for recycling of waste generated from electronic and electrical equipment.
