When do we use the Future Tense?
The future tense is used to refer to situations in the future and
predictions.

TRIGGER WORDS FOR FUTURE TENSE ARE:


Mañana-Tomorrow
Pasado mañana-The day after tomorrow
El fin de semana-At the weekend
El domingo-On Sunday
La semana que viene-Next week
En diciembre-In December
La próxima vez-Next time
De aquí a cinco años-In five years’ time
En cuanto pueda-As soon as I can
Cuando sea mayor-When I’m older
Nunca-Never
Un día-One day
How to form the Future Tense?
To conjugate the Future Tense , you simply add on the respective endings to the
infinitive of the verb.

NOTE: Compared to other tenses, in the future tense the endings remain the same
for AR- ending verbs, ER-endings and IR-endings

SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE (WITH IR)
The verb Ir means to go in spanish. When this verb is conjugated and paired with
( a + infinitive) can be used to describe an action that one will be going to do in
the future.

Applications Of the Future Tense
The following are sentences applying the future tense:
1. Voy a hacer mis tareas manana- I am going to do my
homework
2. Llegan en el tren de las once- They are arriving on the
eleven o’clock train
3. Me levantaré temprano- I’ll get up early
4. Yo viajaré con Edward por España. -I will travel with
Edward through Spain.
The World Of Irregulars in Future Tense

When forming irregular verbs in future tense you combine:


The stem + the appropriate verb ending = Future tense
EXAMPLE: THE STEM FOR TENER IS TENDR
THEREFORE TO SAY I WILL HAVE ITS YO TENDR + É = TENDRÉ

Irregulars
The following are sentences applying the future tense:
1. Mañana ya sabremos los resultados del examen- Tomorrow
we will know the results of the exam
2. Este vestido no te cabrá- This dress will not fit you
3. Ustedes vendrán conmigo- You will come with me
4. ¿No querrá venir a cenar con nosotros?- Won't you come for
dinner with us?
