AP Academy Washington DC Field Trip Information Letter

Dear Parent/Guardian,
The ACHS AP Academy is thrilled to announce that your student has the opportunity to visit
Washington D.C. and experience our nation’s capital firsthand from November 8 – 11, 2024! We
are very excited about this and hope you are too! We are partnering with Group Travel LLC. Please
see the attached itinerary for more details. The cost for this trip will be $675.00 (based on quad
hotel occupancy) and will include charter bus transportation, (3) nights hotel accommodations,
tours/admissions, five meals and overnight security at our hotel. Students will need to bring money
for 5-6 meals, snacks, incidentals, and souvenirs. A deposit of $110 will be due on FRIDAY,
January 12, 2024 to secure your child’s spot on the trip. The following is the payment schedule:
Friday, January 12, 2024 - $110 non-refundable deposit due
Friday, February 16, 2024 - $110
Friday, March 15, 2024 - $110
Friday, April 19, 2024 - $110
Friday, May 17, 2024 - $110
Friday, September 20, 2024 - Final Payment: balance minus fundraising

We will do several fundraisers to help students pay for this experience including selling Attractions
Books and Little Caesar’s Pizza Kits. I am sending information on how to get started selling
Attractions Books home with this letter. Your child will earn $10 for every book they sell! If they sell
11 books, that is one whole payment taken care of! We are rolling this out now because these
coupon books would make great Christmas gifts and are good until December 2024! Please contact
me at nhaas@alexander.k12.nc.us if you have any questions.
If you are interested in serving as a chaperone on this trip, we would love to have you if room
allows. However, you must complete a Level II volunteer screening through Alexander County
Schools. No exceptions can be made as this is school board policy. The cost for chaperones is the
same as the student cost. If you would like to chaperone, please clip the bottom of this letter, and
send it with your student’s first payment. After we determine the number of students, we will open
spots to chaperones.
Please sign the attached student permission slip and return it with the first payment of $110 by
Friday, January 12, 2024. Spots on the trip are available to AP Academy Classes of 2025 and 2026.
We hope to make this a recurring trip every other year for our students.
Clip and return the form below ONLY if you are interested in chaperoning.
