Activity Design of Pasiklaban sa Pasko sa Barangay 2021

Background of the Contest

The pandemic greatly affects many lives and tradition. People experienced a lot of crisis and
hardship. Each one has its own story to tell, story of losing loved ones, loss of job, mental health,
trauma, and anxiety. Mental health was affected, people become hopeless, fear getting high, and life
change suddenly when covid19 arrived.

To put light on the weight that many of us experienced, the Local Government Unit of Maripipi hold
a community contest “Pasiklaban sa Pasko sa Barangay 2021” to enlighten the mind of the residents
that Christmas is something to celebrate amidst pandemics. A reminder that Christmas is the birth of
Christs, the source of hope, love, and graces. That a savior has come to redeem the world.

As many were affected by depression, the Pasiklab sa Pasko 2021 contests may an avenue of healing
specially for the children who suffered most. Emotional, mental and social well-being is one of top
concern of this administration. The beauty, uniqueness, and the community involvement of the
residents can somehow divert their attention from the depression and anxiety they are holding on.

Objective of the Contests:

The Pasiklaban sa Pasko sa Barangay is a celebration of Faith, Hope, and Love. It is anchored on
celebrating life amidst pandemic that Christmas is a season of joy and hope. Furthermore, the
objectives of this event are the following:

1. To keep the spirit of Christmas alive and fervently felt among constituents and visitors in
Maripipi, especially the children;
2. To encourage creativity among the residents of the barangays;
3. To inspire resourcefulness among Maripipin-on reminding everyone that Christmas can be
celebrated despite of pandemic;
4. To bring people together from all walks of life as the activities and competitions are open to
all barangays and sitios of the municipality;
5. To provide a venue for art appreciation, entertainment and fun for the people of Maripipi
and visitors;
6. To promote the tourism industry of the town and thus, increase economic activity for local
entrepreneurs.

Mechanics of the Contests:

1. The contests are open to all Barangay and Sitios of Maripipi;


2. The street Christmas decoration contests must comprise the following:
Christmas Belen

a) The Belen must be installed along the street where the street contests be held.
b) The Belen must feature the following elements. No live characters are allowed.
- Holy Family (Joseph, Jesus, and Mary)
- Three Kings with their gifts
- Star/Comet
- At least one (1) angel
- At least two (2) Shepherds
- At least one (sheep)
- Other animals
c.) A 3% deduction from the total score if the character of the Belen is incomplete.

Christmas Tree

a) The Christmas tree must be installed or place in the street of the barangay where
the contest is done.
b) The Christmas tree must be at least a minimum of 10 ft to a maximum of 20 ft.
c) A 3% deduction from the total score if the length of Christmas Tree will not meet the
required length;

Christmas Parol

3. The total length of street Christmas decoration is 300 meters minimum and 500 meters
maximum. A 5% deduction is deducted if the street decoration doe does not meet the
required length;
4. The street community Christmas contests must be done within the major street or barangay
street of their choice upon the approval of the committee;
5. The contests will be judge by a panel of board of judges, and the result of the board of
judges is final and bending;
6. Each entry must be original, an innovation, not be submitted or featured in previous
competitions;
7. The judging will be done on December 19, 2021at 6:00 o’clock in the evening;
8. Any materials can be used, no specific requirement of materials;
9. The following are the prizes:
1st Price - Php 10,000.00 plus trophy
2nd Prize - Php 8,000.00 plus trophy

3 Prize - Php 5,000.00 plus trophy
Consolation Prize - Php 1,500,00 each plus certificate
10. Household participations are encouraged by putting Christmas lights or parol outside their
residences.

Criteria for judging:

Creativity and Artistry - 30 Points


Craftmanship - 30 Points
Originality - 20 Points
Community Participation - 20 Points
Total 100 points
Budgetary Requirements:

Trophies - 9,000.00
Certificate - 20,000.00
Total - 29, 000.00
