STABILIZERS
ABILIZERS
Stabilizers are an indispensable part of almost all rotary directional BHAs.

Near-bit stabilizers have BOX x BOX connections. They are usually bored
out to accept a float valve.

String stabilizers have PIN x BOX connectio

connections.
ns.

Most stabilizers have a right-hand spiral.

Stabilizers are used to:

Control hole deviation.
educe
educe the ris! of differential stic!ing.
eam out doglegs and !eyseats.

Here we are going to discuss the following types of stabilizer :

"ntegral Blade Stabilizers
#elded Blade Stabilizers

".B. stabilizers are made from high-strength alloy steel as a single piece tool. They
are rolled and machined to provide the blades.

The unitized construction features three spiraled ribs designed to minimize do%n hole

tor&ue' reduce damage to the hole %all and ensure ma(imum fluid circulation.

The "BS is %ell suited for use in most formations from soft and stic!y to hard and
abrasive.

"t is available in both bottom-hole and string designs' providing the fle(ibility to run it

Application in Directional
Directional Drilling :

A pac!ed hole assembly typically re&uires the placement of multiple "B stabilizers
throughout the three zones of stabilization. Contact a T" - representative for BHA
