Clinical Instructor
On October 2022, our group was assigned to have our community exposure in Barangay
Malabanban Sur under the care of our clinical instructor, Mr. Jesus Mueco. We had our duty thrice
a week, which ended on the first week of November. As we accomplished our duty, we gathered
and was able to brainstorm and discuss the important matters that we experienced and observed
during our community exposure. As we reflect, we ended up creating a SWOTR analysis, wherein
our group identified and analyzed the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats during our
duty, as well as our recommendations for the future community exposure.

STRENGTHS

One of the strengths that we have is the unfailing and unconditional guidance of our clinical
instructor. Aside from that, we also have our supportive Barangay Health Workers who taught and
guided us all throughout. Also, our willingness to learn and gain new experience became our
strength because we believe that someone who is willing is shapeable which may lead to achieving
goals effectively. Lastly, our knowledge about nursing procedures imparted to us such as getting
the vital signs of our clients became our strength as we were able to perform it effectively inside
the Barangay Health Station.

WEAKNESSES

Being novice to community exposure is one of our weaknesses, as we have no background about
the actual routine inside the Barangay Health Station. As a result, when patients are coming in, we
somewhat panic and sometimes do not know which group member will approach the client due to
pressure, anxiety, lack of confidence and lack of experience. Furthermore, during our family
profiling, we were not able to gather enough information from each family due to poor time
management and was not able to experience health teaching in the barangay. Also, there are times
that the Barangay Health Workers are in a rush. Finally, one of our weaknesses is we lack of team
work. It is because it was the first time that we work together, that is why some of us were too shy
to ask question and help from each other resulting to doing our jobs inadequately.
OPPORTUNITIES

For the opportunities, our group was able to apply the knowledge and skills that we learned in
school in the actual work setting. We were also had the opportunity to develop and improve our
communication skills when doing nurse-patient interaction. Moreover, during our community
exposure, we were able to experience and observe different kinds of families, as well as their
condition in their respective environment.

THREATS

One of the threats that we identified is the failure to offer a high-quality nursing care and other
possible errors and failures due to lack of confidence and lack of experience. We also see the
transmission of communicable disease as a threat, most especially in the remote areas. Moreover,
since we are not residents of Malabanban Sur, it is still risky for us to wander in an unfamiliar
place, meeting random people. Aside from that, we observed that some areas are prone to accidents
and injuries due to the environment itself and due to existence of unleashed dogs.

RECOMMENDATIONS

As we finished our community exposure our group was able to create some recommendations that
can be beneficial in the future. One of them is to improve the implementation of health promotion
and disease prevention programs through health teaching in the community. We also recommend
to have a more effective and appropriate time management and plan of activities for us to be able
to accomplish our tasks completely and spontaneously. Finally, we recommend to amplify the
students with a comprehensive background regarding the different paper works and manual record
keeping inside the Barangay Health Station.
