Act was passed by British parliament for establishing certain regulation


for the better management of the affairs of the company in India

The main objective of the act were:-


1:-to bring the management of the company under the direct control of the British
parliament and the British crown.
2:-to introduce reform in the company constitution at home that is in the England.
3:- to bring the reformation of the company government in India.
4:- to provide adequate remedies against atrocities and oppression committed by the
servant of the company in India.

This act granted legislative powers to companies executive authority in India. To

Establishment of a Supreme Court of Judicature at Calcutta.

Calcutta.enactment of the regulating act 1773 the provision of the earlier charter of
1753 were superseded and the act empower the crown established a supreme
court at Fort William.

The british King George lll issue it charter on March 26, 1774 which established a
supreme court at Calcutta.
It was crown court.

Sir Elijah Impey was appointed as the First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court at Calcutta.
