The pie charts depict the distribution of water usage for residential, industrial, and
agricultural purposes in San Diego County, California, and globally. It is evident that
the majority of water is consumed by homes in the two American regions, while
agriculture accounts for the largest share of water usage worldwide.
In San Diego County and California State, residential water consumption accounts for
60% and 39% of total water usage, respectively. In contrast, only 8% of the world’s
water is used for residential purposes. Conversely, agriculture accounts for a massive
69% of global water use, but only 17% and 28% of water usage in San Diego and
California, respectively.
The figures for industrial water use are similar in San Diego and worldwide, with both
accounting for 23% of total water usage. However, the proportion of water used by
industry in California is 10% higher, at 33%.
