** Discuss the advantages of written communication**


Advantages of written communication:
There are several advantages or benefits of written communication in an
organisation. These include:
1. Record keeping: Record keeping in written is easy. Company
memos, letters, message in any other written form can be
preserved for future record by both sender and receiver.
It limits necessity of eye witness and very useful for legal
purposes of needed. It is not possible in verbal communication.

2. Authenticity: Written communication with memo number,


company logo, date etc. are all useful for proving authenticity.
Authentic official documents becomes very essential when
dispute arises.
3. Clarity: Written communication offers a level of clarity to the
reader that verbal conversation doesn't. This minimises
confusion, misunderstanding and dispute.
4. Wide Accessibility: Written communication is a highly accessible
form of conveying a message. By sending a message through
written means, anyone with access to the message can access it. It
is also less expensive to forward many copies at a time.

5. Less Distortion: It minimises errors and distortion because one


has the chance to revise the draft before sending which is not
possible in verbal communication.

6. Mass Communication Potential: Using written communication


increases the potential for mass communication. Published piece
of written content may be widely circulated among employees and
even among related organisations having dealing relationship.
