Conditional Sentences
where there is ‘if’, main clause(conclusion)

1. Zero Conditional:
if clause: Present simple tense,
Main clause: Present simple tense
e.g:
If you are healthy, nothing is lost.

2. First Conditional:
if clause: Present tense
Main Clause: Subject + will + V-1st form

If he works hard, he will pass the exam.

3. Second Conditional:
if clause: If + Subject + V2 (Simple past)
Main clause: Subject + would + verb 1st form

A. If he asked me, I would help him (if-simple past, main-would) 2nd conditional
B. If he had asked me, I would help him. (if-had, main-would) does not exist
C. If he asked me, I would have helped him. (if-simple past, main-would have) does not exist
D. None of these

3. Third Conditional:
if clause: If + past perfect (had+ V 3rd form)
Main Clause: Subject + would have + verb 3rd form
If he had won a million pounds, he would have bought a new car.
