What is the significance and meaning of the baby pictures to the story?

In his work "Show Me Yours" Richard Van Camp talks about the path of a person who changes
his life and becomes a happy person and also changes the people around him. The main
character finds himself in a bad environment and realizes that he is at the bottom, but the
realization comes to him only when he sees his grandfather's necklace and decides to find his
baby pictures. These pictures have an important role in this work, as they are a kind of ray of
light. They help the main character remember how it all began, remember his dreams and
plans, and it is this thought that helps him change something in his life. When the thieves decide
to check the pockets, they notice this photo and let Richard go and two days later they come
back with their own. They also realize that they are doing something wrong in their lives
because as a child they probably would not have wanted such a life. They all come to the
realization that they do not want to remain as they are now and that they want to become truly
happy.

As time goes by, everyone starts carrying pictures around with them and they all become
happier talking about those carefree times with each other. The whole city becomes more united
and Richard's beloved appears in the city. Throughout the story, Richard becomes happier just
because of the photo that gave him the motivation and desire to change his life for the better.
He not only changed his life, but the life of the whole city. The main character changes and the
environment around him changes. Baby pictures served as a real ray of light for Richard who
was able to show him the right path, and Richard, in turn, was able to change those around him
and make everyone a little happier.
