CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

An Event Coordinator is an expert within the hospitality and event

management field responsible for organizing and managing events. Their

responsibilities include choosing suitable venues, adhering to predetermined

budgets, coordinating on-site vendors, and guaranteeing client contentment for the

planned occasion.

An Event Organizer/Planner is the person who schedules an event, and

usually the person that runs it and reports it. Organizers make sure their events run

smoothly, and if there are any problems, they resolve them. They are responsible for

the event from start to finish.

The beginnings of events, in the form of planned activities and performances,

are earlier times. Before the Western Roman Empire fell (in AD 476), events and

festivals were well-recorded in history. They serve a crucial social purpose by giving

participants the chance to express their identities and engage in communal rituals

and celebrations. Special religious holidays, such as Christmas and Easter, have

always been observed. The public has frequently been controlled by sovereign

monarchs and other leaders through the organization of events, as was particularly

the case in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

Traditions of nationality and religion may be claimed to be outdated in

contemporary Festivals are no longer considered to be the primary focus of

neighborhood celebrations. The way we socialize in modern western society is

through birthday parties, wedding celebrations, and housewarming parties, which

are all occasions to mark personal milestones, anniversaries, and accomplishments.

Today, it is believed that events play a significant role in the cultural and

economic development of the nations in which they take place. Events can have a

significant impact on how cultural tourism develops in the host areas. A festival is a

communal gathering or an occasion with a specific theme that occurs once a year or

less frequently for a set amount of time. Nowadays, developing annual themes

based on historical and cultural hosting activities to draw tourists and foster cultural

perceptions in the host cities festivals held in public places. Larger events and

festivals are less likely rather than being created particularly to meet the social and

cultural needs of any one group, they are frequently created because of the

economic advantages they are bringing, largely through tourism, hopefully. Such

events draw a growing number of local, regional, and foreign tourists, which could

contribute to the development connections to the world community. Celebrations and

festivals have generally been recognized in local communities and acknowledged for

their significant social impact. These community celebrations foster a sense of

community by providing entertainment for locals and tourists alike (L. KSA 2022).

The practice of using the necessary professional abilities to plan an event for

a target audience to accomplish the desired goal is known as event management.

An event management complex's main function is to offer services for organizing,

planning, and carrying out different kinds of events, both big and small. For instance,

the event planners are accountable for setting up the dining area, waiting tables,

stage, and necessary decor in accordance with the needs of clients for wedding

ceremonies, ceremonial parties, dinners, social gatherings, business conferences,

workshops, inaugurations, and other related events where an individual or a

corporate client intends to invite the general public. The purpose of event
management in the Philippines is to plan, organize and oversee all aspects of an

event, including the budget, venue, staff and vendors, timing, and marketing. It is

also responsible for managing the event on the day of, ensuring that all details are

taken care of and that the event runs smoothly and successfully (N. Anjum 2016).

Event management is used to organize a variety of different events such as

corporate meetings and conferences, sales and marketing events, product launches,

exhibitions and trade shows, festivals, weddings, and other social events. Event

management plays a key role in customer engagement. Event planners can create

and manage memorable events that will foster meaningful interactions between

customers and the business. This helps create an emotional connection between

customers and the brand, creating a more devoted customer base. Events can also

be used as a platform to showcase new products, services, and content that can

help reach a wider audience and create a more positive customer experience. With

the right strategies, event management can help strengthen customer relationships

and create a more meaningful customer journey (Ex-link Events 2023).

In present, Mati City is bracing towards development and innovation. This

factor will be advantageous to this proposed business in a way that it will provide a

Multi events services to the clients. That is why the researchers are opting for one

stop shop event business in Mati City.

There are business establishment offering somewhat similar with the

proponents offered services, but the JAK Multi’vents Series will be offering all kinds

of services regarding events, such as birthdays, weddings, engagements/proposals,

debuts, bridal showers, bachelor’s party, christenings, baby showers, graduation

party, anniversaries, food and wine party, live events, and any other events. The

uniqueness of this study is it offers multiple services in one shot.

CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURES

This chapter discusses

Wedding

Dominant cultural discourses govern the ideal wedding, and these discourses

frequently revolve around the white wedding. White weddings are distinguished by a

bride in a white gown, a lavish reception, and a honeymoon. Given that white

weddings are valued in Western culture, weddings that stray from the norm (Pollino

et al., 2023).

Bridal Shower/bachelor’s Party

According to Kim Forrest, May 2021. When it comes to planning pre-wedding

parties (engagement party, wedding shower, bachelor and bachelorette party,

rehearsal dinner, etc.) , the soon-to-be-weds can usually take a step back and let

others take the lead (phew!). But you may be wondering: Who pays for the bridal

shower? And what exactly are said people paying for? We're here to help figure out

the bridal shower etiquette behind who pays for what, and exactly what costs the

hosts can expect so they can budget accordingly.

Traditionally, the bridal shower is hosted (read: paid for) by the bridal party, led by

the maid of honor and supported by the bridesmaids and grooms men. However, this

isn't always the case. Bridal showers may be hosted and paid for by family friends of

the bride, as well as other close family members (like a grandmother or aunt).
Though it was once considered taboo for the mother of the bride or the bride's future

mother-in-law to throw a shower for her daughter/daughter-in-law (it seemed like a

direct plea for gifts), it's happening more and more these days. Bridesmaids, family

friends, and family members may also co-host the shower and split the cost, or bride

may have multiple showers thrown in her honor!

To start the process, the MOH may want to reach out to the mother of the bride

and/or mother-in-law to discuss her intention to host the shower. The moms may

offer to contribute, or let the bridal party handle the planning. And if the mother or

mother-in-law makes the first move, the bridesmaids should offer to contribute funds

and/or help with planning. If there is no bridal party, family members or close friends

may take the lead in planning, hosting, and paying.

The total cost of a bridal shower ranges from a couple of hundred dollars to well into

the thousands—a lot of it depends on the size of the guest list (more people, more

money!) and where the shower is being held. That's why it's so important to create a

budget before starting to plan the shower. The total budget is typically split up evenly

among those who are hosting (the maid of honor and bridesmaids, usually), but it's

important that everyone is comfortable with the suggested amount. Remember that

the bridesmaids are typically budgeting for many other wedding expenses (gifts,

bridesmaid dress, travel, etc.), so try to keep bridal shower costs under control.

Venue

When it comes to choosing a bridal shower venue, you have a few options. An at-

home shower may seem like the most affordable option (if one of the hosts has the

space and is willing), but remember—you may have to bring in tables, chairs, table
linens, plates, silverware, glassware, and more, not to mention food and drink! Of

course, there are expenses involved with hosting a shower at a restaurant, hotel, or

other all-inclusive event space, but you won't have to worry about food, drink, or

rentals.

Decorations

Depending on your bridal shower theme, you'll want to decorate your event space.

That may mean streamers and balloons or full-on floral centerpieces and photo

backdrop—the choice is yours! You can of course DIY the decorations or opt to bring

in a professional. While DIYing the decor may seem cheaper at first, it will take time,

effort, and money to find supplies and put everything together. Hiring a professional

florist means more cost upfront, but less work for the hosts on the day of (plus,

you're supporting a small business!).

Food and Drink

A major part of the bridal shower experience is the food and drink. Whether you're

hosting a full-on brunch, a sampling of light hors d'oeuvres, or assorted desserts,

you'll need to provide something for your guests to munch on. If you're hosting the

bridal shower at someone's house, the hosts may opt to prepare the food and drink

themselves (though it can be a lot of work!), take out from a local restaurant, or hire

a caterer. And don't forget the drinks! You can set up a self-serve bar, or hire a

bartender to handle the beverages. For events taking place at a restaurant or other

all-inclusive event space, the food and drink will likely be taken care of—you'll just

have to choose a menu that works with your style and budget.
Favors

Bridal shower favors are a nice touch, but totally optional. From candles to koozies,

cookies to mini bottles of champagne, favors really run the gamut in terms of price

and style. Those who are planning and paying for the shower should discuss if they

want to give out favors at all, and if so, what they should be.

Gifts

Yes, the shower hosts still have to purchase a bridal shower gift for the guest of

honor (yes, in addition to a wedding gift!). Usually, bridal shower gifts cost between

$25 and $75, and the hosts can certainly opt for a group gift to help defray some of

the costs.

Games and Entertainment

While the main activities at a shower include watching the bride-to-be open gifts,

eating, and mingling, providing a few bridal shower games can certainly liven up the

event. Most of these games are fairly affordable, but you'll want to make sure you

have any and all supplies accounted for (printable and pens for any games that

require written answers, toilet paper for a wedding dress design competition, etc.).

To take your celebration to the next level, consider hiring live musicians, a caricature

artist, or a tarot card reader, or rent a photo booth or even a karaoke machine! If

your bridal shower theme involves an activity, such as a cooking or flower arranging

class, you'll need to hire an instructor and purchase supplies.

Photographer

You might consider hiring a professional photographer to capture the bridal shower,

since most guests will (hopefully!) be too busy enjoying the festivities to snap pics.

This is not a necessity, but if you're able to include a photographer in your budget,

it's certainly a nice idea to help remember the big day.

Anniversaries

Anniversaries are incredibly exciting milestones. Whether it’s a wedding anniversary

celebration or a relationship milestone, it represents the love, commitment, and

faithfulness of two people to one another. And what do we do when we reach one of

these milestones? We party!

If you and your significant other or a couple special to you (parents, grandparents,

friends, coworkers, etc.) have a big day coming up, you may be wondering what

steps you need to take to plan the perfect get-together.

Live Events

Event professionals have successfully weathered the bumpiest, stormiest time of

planning in modern history. The hunger for live events has never been so ravenous,

as planners try to feed the starving public with face-to-face entertainment,

information, and interaction. But after this unprecedented downpour, event planners
saw something else at the end of that proverbial rainbow instead of a pot of gold:

inflation.

GENERAL RRL

Event planning in today’s economic mood can feel like awakening from one bad

dream only to fall straight into another. But there’s a way to get through it.

Defining what professionals are currently feeling is important. Inflation happens when

there’s high demand for goods and services, but those items are in limited supply,

pushing prices up. In the event world, that “supply” can mean venues, caterers,

services, and even staff. Layer in production delays, and the cost for live events rises

even higher, causing many to wince when forwarding on that forecast.

It’s also key to point out that the definition of live events has evolved. Planners are

bringing crowds together in different ways, including cross-platform formats, like

sound, video, live performers, and music through technologies like augmented reality

and projection mapping. This has spawned a new generation of in-demand, tech-

savvy specialists who also come at a cost.

Graduation Party
We go the extra mile to make Graduation Balls all the more exciting and memorable.

The whole batch of graduates are in for an awesome party replete with an amazing

ambiance, creative cuisine, and an inviting dance floor to fete their years of

dedication.

Throwing a graduation party can be an informal affair with relatively low costs or a

grand bash that could set you back thousands. It all comes down to knowing what

you're going to have to pay for and setting an appropriate budget. If you’re looking

to save money, tailor a party to the needs of your guests. Divide your expenses

into categories, such as the location, food and beverage, and entertainment. That

will help you determine where you’ll need to spend your money and where you can

cut corners.

Location

Your guest list will determine if your house and yard are big enough to host

everyone. If you have to go to another site, like a hall, you could have to spring for

a deposit, tables, chairs, decorations and a cleaning fee. Food could be a factor

too. Some halls will let you bring in your own food, while others will require you to

use their catering. Find out before you sign a contract.

Invitations

You can spend money on custom-made, upscale invitations to make the event

seem more special, or send less expensive postcards. You could also use an

online event invitation and RSVP system, such as Evite, Punchbowl or Any invite.

This will cover all of the invitation issues, and give the invitees an interactive place

to post notes and pictures. Best of all, it's free.

Food

If your invitees know each other well, a potluck party can reduce some of the food

costs. As the host, you'll have to pay for the main dish, such as hot dogs,

hamburgers and chicken. The guests will bring salads, sides and desserts. If you

hire a caterer, you can pay per person or per piece, depending on your menu. The

former method guarantees you’ll have enough food, while the latter lets you better

control food costs.

Drinks

If your guests are over age 21, you can serve alcohol but you’ll incur legal liabilities

if you do this at your home. Check with your insurance company to find out if you

need additional insurance. If you bring your own drinks to an off-site commercial

venue, you could get charged a fee to compensate for some of their loss of drink

sales. If you offer an open bar, you will have no control over your drink costs and

won’t know your final expense until after the event.

Entertainment

Entertainment options for graduation parties usually center around music. Your

options including playing a mix CD, hiring a DJ, booking a band, or renting a

karaoke setup. The cost of any option varies depending on how long you expect

the entertainers to perform and their appearance fees.

Labor
A full staff can cut down on your workload, even with a home party. You'll need a

party planner, cook or caterer, wait staff and a crew to set things up before the

bash and clean up afterward. Valet parkers can maximize the parking space and

keep guests off your neighbors’ lawns.

CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

This chapter describes the methods used to collect the data required to

achieve the study's goal. It includes the research design, data sources, research

location, study participants, sampling technique, sample size, data collection

procedure, and treatment.

Research Design

The research design of this study was descriptive in nature, aiming to gather

information about the marketability of the JAK Multi’vents Series in City of Mati,

Davao Oriental. The study utilized various data collection methods, including

questionnaires, personal interviews using study guides or interview schedules, and

observations. These methods allowed the researchers to obtain a comprehensive

understanding of the factors influencing the demand for the water refilling station and

the potential success of the business. The researchers conducted a survey directly

among the determined respondents. The survey included structured questionnaires

that were administered to the participants. The questionnaires were designed to

gather information about the participants' preferences, purchasing behavior, and

perceptions regarding events coordinator and organizing parties. This data helped in

assessing the marketability of the JAK Multi’vents Series and understanding the

demand for its services. In addition to the survey, personal interviews were

conducted by the researchers. These interviews followed study guides or interview

schedules, which provided a structured approach to collecting qualitative data. The

interviews aimed to gather in-depth insights from the participants regarding their

views on the event organizing, their awareness and perception of event planning

firms, and their preferences and concerns related to the said study. Observation was

also employed as a data collection method, allowing the researchers to directly

observe the behavior and preferences of the target market. This included observing

the participants' choices and actions related to their desired parties and events and

their interactions with existing event planning firms in the area or on other cities.

Through employing a combination of survey, personal interviews, and observation,

the researchers were able to collect comprehensive data on the marketability of the

JAK Multi’vents Series. These data provided valuable insights into the demand for

event planners and the factors influencing consumer preferences and behavior in

City of Mati, Davao Oriental.

Sources of Data

The researchers will be gathering data from two main sources Primary

Sources and Secondary Sources. Primary sources include surveys, which are a

highly accurate and trusted way to learn about respondents' current and future

purchasing habits, brand awareness, and feature preferences. The questionnaires

distributed to the respective respondents must provide relevant information on their

wants and needs, allowing the researchers to develop responsive strategies. Depth

interviews, focus group interviews, case studies, experimentation, and observation

are some other primary data sources. While secondary sources utilized the various

sources as its secondary basis to support ideas and findings, this includes general

websites, where a server in a computer holds the files for another site and consists

of thousands of files spread out over many servers in various locations around the

world; and books related to the study that may provide additional information.

Research Locale

The research was conducted in City of Mati, specifically focusing on three

largest barangay within the City. These barangays included Barangay Central,

Barangay Sainz and Barangay Dahican served as the research locale and provided

the context for assessing the marketability of the JAK Multi’vents Series. These

barangays located in the City of Mati, Davao Oriental, was chosen as the research

locale due to its significance as the target area for establishing the event planner’s

firm. By conducting the study in these specific barangays, the researchers aimed to

gain insights into the local demand for events planners and the potential market for

the JAK Multi’vents Series. The choice of three barangays within City of Mati allowed

for a comprehensive representation of the local population. Each Barangay

contributed 50 respondents, resulting in a total of 150 participants in the study. This

sample size was considered appropriate to gather a diverse range of perspectives

and opinions regarding the marketability of the event planner’s firm. By conducting

the research in City of Mati and involving respondents from different barangays, the

study aimed to provide specific and localized insights into the demand for event
planners and the viability of the JAK Multi’vents Series business in this particular

area.

Respondents of the Study

Sampling Technique

The study utilized a quota sampling technique to select the participants for the

research. Quota sampling is a non-probability sampling method where individuals

are chosen based on specific criteria or characteristics that align with the objectives

of the study. Sample Size The study employed a sample size of 150 respondents,
with 50 participants selected from each of the three barangays within the City of

Mati. The quota sampling technique was used to ensure the selection of participants

was unbiased and representative of the larger population.

Figure 2. The Flow Chart in Collecting Data

In the data collection procedure, the researchers conducted surveys among

the respondents in each three barangays of City of Mati. The survey involved

distributing questionnaires to the participants, with a total of 50 respondents in each

section and a cumulative total of 150 respondents across the city. The
questionnaires were designed to gather relevant information regarding the

marketability of the JAK Multi’vents Series. Prior to administering the questionnaires,

the researchers provided clear instructions and explanations to the respondents.

This ensured that the participants understood the purpose of the survey and how to

properly answer the questions. By providing instructions, the researchers aimed to

improve the reliability and relevance of the gathered data. In addition to the surveys,

the researchers also utilized online sources through the internet and consulted

various articles and journals available in the 50 Respondents in each barangay

(Random Selection) Dissemination of Questionnaires Data Collection through the aid

of the provided data-gathering material from school's college library. This approach

allowed the researchers to gather additional information and insights about events

planners, market trends, and related factors. By incorporating a combination of

primary data collection (surveys) and secondary data collection (online sources and

literature review), the researchers aimed to enhance the comprehensiveness and

validity of their findings.

Data treatment

In this specific study, the researchers employed various data treatment

methods to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and meaningful analysis of the collected

data. The data treatment process involved several steps aimed at organizing,

sorting, and analyzing the data. Initially, the researchers performed data entry to

transfer the responses from the questionnaires into a digital format, such as a

spreadsheet or a statistical software program like Microsoft excel. This allowed for

easier data manipulation and analysis. During the data entry phase, they carefully
verified the accuracy and completeness of the entered data to minimize errors. Once

the data was entered, the researchers conducted data cleaning and validation

procedures. This involved checking for missing values, outliers, or any

inconsistencies in the responses. They addressed missing values by determining if

they were due to respondent non-response or actual omissions. In the case of

outliers, they evaluated their impact on the data and decided whether to retain or

exclude them based on their relevance to the research objectives. After coding and

categorization, the researchers conducted statistical analysis on the data. This

included descriptive statistics, such as calculating frequencies, percentages, means,

and standard deviations, to summarize the data and gain a better understanding of

the respondents' opinions and preferences. They also employed inferential statistical

techniques and percentage analysis, to examine relationships and associations

between variables. Lastly, the researchers interpreted the results of the statistical

analysis and drew conclusions based on the findings. They synthesized the data and

identified patterns, trends, and significant relationships that emerged from the

analysis. The researchers also cross-referenced the quantitative findings with the

information gathered from online sources and literature review to provide a

comprehensive and well-rounded interpretation of the data.

Ethical Consideration

JAK Multi’vents Series ensure responsible, sustainable, and great operations.

These considerations include prioritizing the quality of service, maintaining client’s

safety, ensuring transparency and disclosure, addressing affordability, engaging with

the local community, and upholding fair competition and market practices. By
adhering to these ethical principles, JAK Multi’vents Series can operate the business

with integrity, accountability, and commitment to social well-being.
