Speech Literacy
Very good morning to all of you. We all have gathered here to celebrate Syafana literacy day with theme “Reborn”
and I would like to speak some words on this event.
World literacy day is celebrated on 8th September every year. It marks the international celebration and awareness
campaign on literacy. In 1964, this day was declared as a holiday by the United Nations, Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The main purpose of celebrating this world literacy day is to encourage awareness among people about literacy so
that everyone knows about their individual and social rights. It is as important as food to live.
What is literacy? Literacy is the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute, using printed
and written materials associated with varying contexts.
So today I would request you all to celebrate this day with a positive spirit. And We are very grateful for your
hardwork to make Poem, Essay, Short Story as well, Personally, I really can’t wait to see the book and read all of
your works.
Lastly, I would like you all to stand up and take the pledge on this literacy day, we learn, we teach, we inspire, to
make our future full of knowledge and success.
