The Malaysian Family concept was first announced as a national agenda by the then Deputy Prime

Minister, Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in November 2019 a few months before the political crisis occurred.[7]
[8] However, it was officially introduced as an idea by Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his inaugural
speech as the 9th Prime Minister of Malaysia on 22 August 2021.[1] According to Ismail Sabri, this
concept is inclusive across the borders of religion, race and race and invites all the people in this country
together as one whole family.[2][9][10] This concept was chosen because it is "inclusive, close to the
people and shows a value of concern and love for all members of the country's big family".[11] Ismail
Sabri in his speech said:

"It crosses the boundaries of religion, race and race. Where, we are aware of the existence of a family
that is married to various races and religions, but family values have bound them all. That is why the
concept of the Malaysian Family is taken because for me the integrity of the country is tied to the values
of the value of perfect education in a family. We are as one family regardless of religion, race and race.
Each of you is like my own family, whether young or old. We are likened to complementing each other,
like body parts that need each other

The Malaysian Family Concept inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is capable of
leading the country to move towards economic recovery in the post-Covid-19 pandemic era.

He said, the economy needs to be restored, the welfare of the people should be strengthened and
investors' confidence must also be restored.

"Don't worry, only with the full cooperation of the Malaysian Family, the war with the COVID-19
pandemic will end successfully.

"It is a hope for the people of this country where the use of face masks is part of the life of the new
norm, smiles will return in the Malaysian Family that I love," he said when launching the Malaysian
Family Concept at the Perdana Auditorium, Wisma Radio, Angkasapuri on 8 October 2021.

MALAYSIAN FAMILY

Since the introduction of the Malaysian Family concept, many have wondered what it means and why it
is the spirit that the government wants to adopt now.
The Prime Minister explained that spirit is very important because family institutions always play a role
in protecting religious beliefs, safety, dignity and ensuring that all family members are taken care of.
He said, the diversity of festivals in Malaysia has also become the main pillar of this country and needs
to be maintained continuously.
"Therefore, the value of every Malaysian Family is an important component that will decide the rise or
fall of this country," he said.
The Malaysian Family Concept wants the practice of living in an atmosphere of harmony and unity. It's
like 'close together like lemongrass, arranged like betel nut' which emphasizes the concept of neighborly
life.
The concept is also in line with the journey towards recovering and returning the country from the
negative effects on health and economy as it is currently experienced.
"The concept of the Malaysian Family and its approach is not difficult to practice because its values are
already practiced by every family in this country.
"What the government is doing is to harmonize the atmosphere and raise these values as a guide
towards strengthening the country's strength in the diversity of religions, races and ethnicities," he said.
He said that all the values of the Malaysian Family are based on the Federal Constitution as enshrined in
the Rukun Negara

Now, education plays an important role in educating and cultivating the young generation on history,
religion, morals or civic-minded unity early in school where efforts can be made to instill the values of
inter-racial harmony, unity and peace among them as they will grow up to become healthy, responsible
Malaysian youth. This helps to prevent them becoming rebellious or racist.

Educators need to use creativity and skills to get the Gen Z of all races to participate in indoor or
outdoor activities that enhance racial integration and unity so that nation-building will take place
efficiently. They must be the prime movers of our educational transformation, not only to teach, and
impart knowledge and skills but also to unite the young generations of the different races through
activities in line with the aspiration of unity.

In fact, the books, curriculums or the content of programmes should be interesting, informative and
helpful in assisting, revitalising and exposing the younger generation in nurturing the spirit of patriotism,
thus enabling them to appreciate the heroes who sacrificed their blood, sweat and tears fighting for
independence.

Healthy activities such as speech or debate competitions and museum visits or bringing the Gen Z down
memory lane, and narrating to and exposing them to history like other Asian countries such as Japan,
Indonesia and India will make them proud of their origins so that the young generation know how to
appreciate the sacrifices made by their forefathers and have devotion for the country. This is to bring
about mutual respect, a sense of belonging, humility and good social values among the younger
generation to learn and respect the elders or senior citizens in Malaysia. Consequently, this will not only
prevent our youth and culture from being imperialised or colonialised but also reduce the social
problems among Malaysian youth. This is line with the efforts to develop civilised youth to serve the
country as noble citizens and make a successful nation of Malaysia.

Patriotism involves love for the citizens of the nation and the urge to live in harmony with all regardless
of gender, ethnicity, race and religion. We cannot love our country without loving its people. The unity
and oneness among people can only lead to the progress and development of the nation.

The impervious surfaces in the urban areas do not allow water to infiltrate the ground, and the water
runs off to the low spots very quickly. Flash Flooding occurs so quickly that people are caught off-guard.
The effects of floods are devastating. Many times floods can destroy everything. Houses can be torn off
their foundation because the water has made its structure weaker, tar can be been pulled off road
causing major pot holes, earth can be sunken in creating a different landscape, tons of trees have the
possibility of being ripped out. To see the effects after a flood is not a pretty site. Water has to be
pumped out of flooded civilian areas.

Another thing that floods effect is the environmental and economical situations. When floods occur,
there is a large amount of water that runs over the ground. Loose soil, rocks, and landscape can be
dramatically altered, leaving behind a rugged, changed terrain. Loose soil can create mud slides, which
create hazardous situations for living things nearby. The economy after the flood can be one of the
greatest effected. Billions of dollars have been donated by a countries government to rebuild and
payback what was lost. Many times these things include houses, roads, buildings, cars, schools, etc.
Another thing that people loose in the event of floods is their jobs; consequently, after water damaging
buildings and such, businesses can be run down, bankrupt and even, in existent. This causes lots of
people to be jobless, which in effect, creates no way of paying for daily needs.

During floods, humans can lose so much. One of the most dangerous things a person could lose would
be their life. If a person gets caught in a flood and is swept away, they have the risk of drowning in the
water. Many times people die not only from the flood itself; but the effects after the flood such as
starvation, hazardous objects floating in the water, and much more. Because of the water, it is harder
for medical services to help civilians. The people rely on the aid workers to bring refugees food;
consequently, if the aid workers have a hard time getting through the water, many families starve to
death.
1. Stop and review all construction and plantation projects on natural water catchment areas close to
the major rivers in each state
Water catchment areas play a crucial role in absorbing rainwater and preventing a drastic increase in the
volume of river water during a heavy downpour. This prevents river water overflows because of the high
volume of water and the flooding of surrounding areas.
The government must protect all the natural water catchment areas in Malaysia and enact laws
prohibiting construction and plantation work in these areas.
2. Build sufficient water retention ponds near the main rivers throughout Malaysia, particularly in areas
frequently hit by floods
3. Remove silt from major rivers (desilting) in each state, particularly in major rivers near construction
projects
This is because the sand from construction work falls into and accumulates at the bottom of the river,
thus reducing the depth of the river and its ability to carry large amounts of water during heavy rains. As
a result, excess water overflows from the rivers and causes flash floods in surrounding areas.
4. Redesign existing drainage systems throughout Malaysia to make them wider and deeper
Most drains in Malaysia are small and unable to hold large volumes of water during heavy rain, thus
resulting in flash floods.
5. Clear drains that are clogged with rubbish to prevent flash floods during heavy rain
Local governments should identify hotspots where members of the public frequently throw rubbish into
drains and catch and fine litterbugs by installing CCTV cameras or placing local council enforcement
officers at those locations. They should also erect signboards prohibiting littering at those locations
