H. Detailed method statement, design calculations and drawings of the dewatering


system for Engineer’s approval prior of starting the excavation works

1.5 QUALITY CONTROL AND QUALITY ASSURANCE:

A. Codes and Standards: Perform excavation work in compliance with applicable


requirements of Uniform Building Code and other governing authorities, codes and
standards having jurisdiction.

B. Testing Services: Contractor shall employ and pay for qualified independent testing
laboratory to perform all tests herein specified tests during earthwork operations.
Additional tests shall be performed to determine the quality of work, if required by the
Engineer. The testing laboratory shall be approved by the Engineer. Perform each test in
conformance with the following:

1. Compaction Curve: Conform to ASTM D1557

2. Liquid Limit: Conform to ASTM D4318

3. Plastic Limit: Conform to ASTM D4318

4. In-situ Moisture Content: Conform to ASTM D2216

5. Material Description

6. Particle-Size Analysis: Conform to ASTM D422

7. Soil Classification: Conform to ASTM D2487

C. Quality Testing Compliances: Based on reports of the testing and inspection, if the
subgrade, fill, or backfill does not meet the specified requirements these materials shall
be considered defective and shall be rejected. Excavate rejected materials and provide
new acceptable materials replacing the rejected materials and re-compact the new
materials as specified. Re-test the re-compacted material and repeat the procedure as
necessary until the specified compaction is obtained.

D. Recommendations of Report for Geo-Technical Studies for the Project shall be


followed as directed by the Engineer.

E. Excavation, backfilling and compaction of piped utilities shall be strictly in accordance


with the recommendation of pipe manufacturer,

F. Earthworks must be monitored and tested by an independent testing agency provided by


the Contractor at his own expenses. The qualified testing agency must be approved by
the Consultant.

Project Site Information: Sub-surface site investigation reports have been prepared for
the project area and are available to the Contractor for information only. The Contractor
is entirely responsible for his own assessment (see, interpretation, use and conclusions
drawn from the information data, tests analyses and opinions contained in the reports.

A. Site Information: Data on indicated subsurface conditions are not intended as


representations or warranties of accuracy or continuity between soil borings. It is
expressly understood the Employer will not be responsible for interpretations or
conclusions drawn there from by Contractor. Data are made available for convenience
of Contractor. Additional test borings and other exploratory operations may be made by
Contractor at no cost to the Employer.
