Assignment 1
Refreshment

1. What is meant by:

 Petroleum reservoir.
 Reservoir rock and its types.
 Reservoir fluids and their types.

2. Define porosity. Differentiate between primary and secondary porosity, absolute

and effective porosity. What are the geological factors affecting porosity?

3. Define fluid saturation, show graphically change of water saturation with depth
in the reservoir.

4. Define permeability, giving its dimensions and units. What is meant by Darcy's
Law, what are its limitations? What are the types of permeability and the factors
affecting it?

5. What is meant by:

 Capillary pressure.
 Miscible and immiscible fluids.
 Surface and interfacial tensions.
 Wettability and contact angle.

6. Draw the capillary pressure curve, and mention the factors affecting it?

7. What is meant by:

 Natural gas.  Perfect (ideal) gas.
 Sour gas and sweet gas.  Non-perfect gas.
 Wet gas and dray gas.  Gas deviation factor.
 Gas condensate.  Differential and flash liberation.

8. Define each of the following and Show graphically their behavior with
reservoir pressure:
 Gas formation volume factor.  Oil formation volume factor.
 Gas solubility.  Oil viscosity.
 Producing gas oil ratio.  Two-phase formation volume factor.
