PRESENTING NEW LESSON:

A Whole
A whole, a whole, a whole
Divided into two
One part is called one-half
And so the other one.

B. Establishing a purpose of the new

lesson FRACTION

A Fraction represents a part of a whole, it has a numerator and

denominator.

Example of fraction:

1 3 5 9
2 4 6 11
C. Presenting examples/ instances of the
new lesson Fraction bar separates the numerator and denominator.

Part of Fraction

NUMERATOR - is the number above the horizontal line.

It tells how many parts of a whole is being considered

DENOMINATOR -is the number below the horizontal line.

It tells how many parts of the whole is divided into.

D. Discussing new concepts and

practicing new skills no. 1 TYPES OF FRACTION

PROPER FRACTION- It is the fraction whose numerator is less than its

denominator.

IMPROPER FRACTION- It is the fraction whose numerator is greater than its

denominator.

MIXED NUMBER - It is a combination of a whole number and a proper

fraction.

E. Discussing new concepts and

practicing new skills no. 2 How to change an improper fraction to a mixed number

Ex. 8 means “8 divided by 3

3
