Motor Test Set User Guide

To test AC motor first ensure the health of motor and connect the three phase input of MOTOR
under test to the three phase output leads of the MOTOR TEST SET.

Set the output TAP SELECT switch to the Rated voltage of the motor under test (i.e. 480VAC).
And Regulator RAMP RATE knob can be adjusted to increase or decrease (RAISE/LOWER) the
voltage speed.

Check wiring to ensure the proper connections and Ground to the case of motor under test.

Turn ON the MAIN POWER, CONTROL POWER breakers and release the EMERGENCY PUSH.

Set the Digital meters one on Voltage L-L and another on Ampere by repeatedly pressing the V
and A buttons.

Put the AC/ARMATURE OUTPUT ON by press the MAIN SUPPLY Red push button.

The START indicator Light will illuminate for 60 seconds during which time 200% rated current
will be available. After starting period the START indicator will go out and RUN indicator light
will illuminate. (Ensure that the motor turns to motion within first 60 seconds)

Slower raise the voltage by use of the voltage control REGULATOR RAISE push button up to max
voltage of tap selected. At the same time observe the current meter, make sure not to exceed
the rating of the Tap selected (i.e. 120A @ 480VAC) chart available at motor test set.

CAUTION: Never attempt to change the high voltage tap selector switch while the high
voltage is ON.

The unit is protected in case of five amps or more current flow from one phase to ground. If this
occurs, an overload will automatically shut the unit OFF and a ground fault will be indicated by
the GROUND FAULT light. Press the RESET push in case of any fault indicator illuminated.

After completion of test lower the output voltage to Zero by pressing the LOWER push button.

OFF the Main Supply by OFF push button and Turn OFF the CONTROL & MAIN POWER breakers
as well.

Note: TEST SET Duty is 1 hour (1 hour ON / 1 hour OFF)

Tachometer: To check RPM sensor with reflector to be installed on motor shaft.

For further Tests & function details follow the Manual, copy is available in workshop.
