Terasaki (Europe) Ltd

Terasaki Europe Ltd. was established in 1971

and is located near Glasgow, Scotland U.K.
From head office at our 7,500 square metre
facility, Terasaki Europe controls an Interna-
tional Sales network that serves the whole of
Europe and the Middle East.

The British managed facility manufacturers

(ACB's), TemBreak Moulded Case Circuit
Breakers (MCCB's) and a complete range of
Final Distribution Products.

These superbly engineered products are sold

in the U.K. Europe and the Middle East.

The success of the Glasgow based operation

has helped Terasaki become one of Europe's
leading suppliers of circuit breaker technology,
a fact reflected in our accreditation to the BS

AOR-1B : Multi-function r.m.s. sensing protection

Enhanced overload protection

Conventional electronic devices incorporating

peak current detection are prone to nuisance
tripping if harmonic distortion exists. Micro-
processor controlled overcurrent relays elimi-
nate “nuisance” tripping by responding to the
true r.m.s. value of the waveform.

True r.m.s. reading utilizing sampling and

integrating techniques.

Thermal memory
The hot start characteristic takes account of
the accumulated heating effect caused by pre-
vious loads. Hot or cold start characteristics
are set by means of a selector switch.
Note: For AOR-1BM only cold start is avail-
able.

• ACB height and depth is unified throughout

the TemPower series.

• Fixed type height 500mm, depth 343mm.

Up to 4000A frame, height 526mm (H).

TemPower - Compact, high performance circuit breakers

1 Double segregated arc chamber for maxi-
mum fault interruption performance.
2 Spring charging handle stored flush in the
front panel.
3 Operating mechanism. A simple cam
system for lightweight, narrow construction,
1 mechanically reliable parts, such as ball
bearings are used at all key points.
4 Two tip contact system. Arc damage to the
main contacts during opening and closing
operations is substantially reduced by the
arcing contacts which close before the
4 main contacts (during closing operations)
and which open after the main contacts
6 (during opening operations).
5 U-shaped current path. This design utilises
the electromagnetic repulsive force between
the arms of the “U” conductor to provide
additional contact pressure in the closed
5
position. During current interruption, this
magnetic force drives the arc into the arc
2 chamber and increases contact opening
speed.
6 Early make/late break, neutral pole contact.
3
The neutral pole contact closes earlier,
and opens later than the 3 main pole
contacts. This feature prevents abnormal
transient voltages occurring between
the phase and neutral lines during open-
ing and closing operations. The neutral
contact is mechanically linked to the main
pole contacts making it impossible to
leave the neutral pole open or to acciden-
tally open or close the neutral pole only.

The Arc Gas Barrier reduces the air gap

requirement between the top of the ACB and
other electrical equipment or earthed metal.
See outline dimension drawings for details.
The barrier can be installed with the cradle, for
the draw-out type breaker. The arc gas barrier
is a heat proof, flame-resistant insulating plate.

Metal-clad type

The metal-clad type consists of a draw-out

breaker, housed in a steel enclosure. A load
centre is readily constructed by simply placing
metal-clad units one upon another.

Intelligent protection relay

Specifications

TemTrip is a multi-function microprocessor based protection relay. The standard model provides
3 phase overcurrent & earth fault protection. However, options of undervoltage and reverse
power protection can be incorporated.
It can be fitted integral with the TemPower ACB (PRQ-2) or can be supplied separately, panel
mounted (PRQ-1). Refer to TemTrip catalogue I73Ea for further information.

• True r.m.s. monitoring eliminates nuisance

tripping on overloads due to harmonic
distortion.

• Built in O.C.R. checker to enable full

calibration check on site. Can also check on-
line.

• Integral L.E.D display provides information

on phase currents, fault magnitude and
tripping time.

• Optional communication to Trends' building

management systems.

TemCurve - Selectivity analysis software

To compliment the flexibility of the TemTrip multi-function protection

relay we have available a selectivity software program called
TemCurve.
This software program takes full advantage of the number of time
current characteristic curves on offer by the mircroprocessor protection
relay. Ground fault studies can also be carried out.
Enabling selectivity levels to be checked in minutes rather than
hours, TemCurve is a time saving breakthrough in the production of
accurate selectivity studies.
For further information please contact Terasaki's projects division.

Extensive database comprises

• MCBs
• Thermal magnetic & microprocessor MCCBs
• Overcurrent relays for ACBs
• LV & HV fuses
• MCGG & CDG relays
