 What role should a company play in a national crisis?
You work for an Indonesian company. There was an
environmental crisis which led to a social and political crisis.
You want to help but you do not know if you should….
You will work in groups of 3-4
- You will write 2-3 pages. TNR 12, spacing 1,5,margins 2
- You will provide a bibliography with a minimum of 3
sources. Use the example in your file. (if you include visuals
they must be explained and referenced)
- You use the methodology in the document. If some questions
can not be answered you skip them.
- The work must include research on the country and its current
social, economic and political situation.
- There is no right or wrong decision, but you need to base
your opinion on arguments.
- You will be graded on:

START WITH A SUMMARY- it helps you focus on the main elements
- Who are the main players in the case?
- What is the environment of the case: countries, regions, regional trade areas?
- What is the industry in question?
- What are the issues?
MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEMS ARE- il helps you detail the problem
- What are the issues presented in the document?
- What are the origins and consequences of the issues?
- What are the risks or opportunities associated with the issue?
ANALYSE THE CONTEXT – it helps you understand the tensions around the issue
- What are the environments where the company operates (social,
economic, political environment if relevant to understand the issue)?
- What are the links between the company and the international, national
or international context? New laws? Conflicts?
- Are there international organizations at play or of interest regarding
the problem and what is their opinion on the matter?
- What is the situation economically in the region? Impact of covid?
REVIEW THE COMPANY’S STRATEGY, OBJECTIVES, MISTAKES OR
SUCCESSES- it helps you understand how the company dealt with the
issue
- What is the company facing a problem?
- What is its business model? What is its strategy?
- What is its international strategy?
- What is the company’s mission statement?
- What are the company’s objectives in the case? Has it worked?
- What has the company done to fix the problem?
TURN INTO MANAGERS-You give your opinion
- Explain what you think the mistakes/opportunities are
- Explain what you think was successful or not
- Explain the impact on shareholders and stakeholders
- Give your opinion on what the company should do
