You can combine a maximum of three cabinet groups through combination of BTS3012
and BTS3X cabinet groups.
In the combination of BTS3012 and BTS3X cabinet groups, the master cabinet group
must be BTS3012 cabinet group, and the slave cabinet group must be BTS30 or BTS312
cabinet groups.
A site can be configured with a maximum of two types of cabinet groups. For example, a
BTS3012 cabinet group cannot be combined with both a BTS30 cabinet group and a
BTS312 cabinet at the same time. the master cabinet group should be BTS3012 cabinet
The combination of BTS3012 cabinet groups supports the configuration of all boards of
BTS30 and BTS312 except the ABB bypass board. The original board configuration of
BTS30 and BTS312 should remain the same.
When a BTS3012 cabinet group is combined with BTS30 or BTS312 cabinet groups, the
BTS3012 cabinet group can upload and activate the software of boards in BTS30 or
BTS312.
When BTS30 or BTS312 cabinet groups are configured as slave cabinet groups, 32K
timeslots can be allocated to carrier boards of BTS30 and BTS312 cabinets only if the
BTS30 and BTS312 cabinet groups use G3BTS32V302R006C01 and later versions of
software version of TMU and carriers.
When a BTS3012 cabinet group is combined with BTS30 or BTS312 cabinet groups, the
BTS30 or BTS312 cabinet groups can be configured with EAC, namely that the original
environment monitoring system can be used. The software version of TMU of the BTS30
or BTS312 cabinet groups, however, must be G3BTS32V302R006C01 or later versions.
If the slave cabinet groups are configured with boards of EAC, the master cabinet cannot
be configured with the DEMU board or the boards of EAC-2.
DTRU and TRX, namely carriers of different types of cabinets can be configured for a
cell.
Note:
Before combining cabinet groups, ensure that the TMU of slave cabinet groups are
upgraded to the correct software version.
2 Operation Guidance
Cabinet Groups
The requirement on the connection of E1 cables is the same as the C01 version. Similar to
the BTS of old versions, the master BTS cabinet groups are connected to BSC through E1
cable. The slave BTS cabinet groups are connected to the master BTS cabinet group or BSC
through E1 cable. The slave BTS cabinet groups cannot be directly connected to the superior
BTS, because the data configuration does not support the direct connection between the
slave BTS cabinet groups and the superior BTS.
The cables that connect BTS3012 cabinet group with BTS30 or BTS312 cabinet groups are
different from the cables that connect BTS3012 cabinets in the C01 version. You need
cables matching with different interfaces. One end of the cable is connected to the CKB1 or
CKB2 interface of the master BTS (BTS3012) cabinet group, and the other end of the cable
is connected to the CKB1 or CKB2 interface of the slave BTS (BTS30 or BTS312) cabinet
group. The BOM code of the cable that connects BTS cabinet groups is 04047519.
Description of the cable is as follows:
Single piece of cable-Cable connecting BTS3012 cabinet group and BTS312 cabinet group-
3.5m-(D36 male-Ⅱ)-(CC16P0.4P430U(S)-Ⅰ)-(D25 male)-BTS3012. The cable is shipped
before BTS3012 cabinet group is combined with BTS30 or BTS312 cabinet groups. Two
pieces of cables are shipped for two combined cabinet groups. Three pieces of cables are
shipped for three combined cabinet groups.
2.1.3 Transmission
The transmission of combined different types of cabinet groups is the same as independent
cabinets and combined cabinet groups.
The radio frequency cannot be shared by BTS3012 and BTS30 cabinets or shared by
BTS3012 and BTS312 cabinets.
The PDM code of DC-DC Side Power alarm cable is 04047444. As shown in Figure 1, the
DB9 connector (left) of the alarm cable is connected to the DB9 connector on the DC-DC
Sidepower alarm board, and the DB26 connector (right) of the alarm cable is connected to
the DB26 connector (marked as EAC interface) of the DSAC on top of the BTS3012 cabinet.
If the PDF provides digital signal alarms, use created cables to connect digital signals to the
DB26 connector of the DSAC on top of the BTS3012 cabinet.
Configuration Principles:
BTS312 uses EAC1. BTS312 is supplied with +24V power, and uses the GMS Cbus3
protocol.
BTS3012 uses EAC2. BTS3012 is supplied with -48V power, and uses the standard
master-slave node protocols (also referred to as the W protocol) of Huawei. In addition,
BTS3012 can be configured with built-in DEMU boards.
If BTS3012 uses only digital signal input, it can be configured with the DEMU monitoring
board.
The existing environment alarms of BTS312 need not be changed, and the BTS312 can still
report environment alarms after combination of cabinet groups. You can add new alarms
either in the original BTS312 equipment or BTS3012, which are not mutually affected.
The customer requests that the existing monitoring environment of the BTS312 is reserved.
Therefore, the monitoring signals of BTS312 need be switched to BTS3012. The transit
cables need be created. For details about the installation of alarm cables, refer to the related
content of Guide to Deployment of HUAWEI BTS3012AE.doc.
Because BTS3012 and BTS30 cabinets cannot be combined in a group, the configuration of
antenna of BTS30 in combination groups is the same as the configuration of antenna of
independent BTS3012, namely that BTS3012 and BTS30 separately have their independent
antenna systems.
If on the tower there is only one antenna system, you need make proper configuration to
combine the antenna signals of BTS3012 and BTS30 on top of the cabinets and then send
the antenna signals to the top of the tower.
When configuring antennae in the preceding case, comply with the following principles:
Therefore, multiple antennae must be configured so that BTS30 and BTS3012 cabinet
groups can be combined when BTS3012 and BTS30 work in the same frequency band.
Similarly, multiple antennae must be configured to help implement the combination
BTS3012 and BTS30 cabinet groups even when BTS3012 or BTS30 is configured with
dual-band combiner.
Only inter-frequency transmit signals can be combined. The combination and division of
inter-frequency transmit signals are performed through dual-band combiner and divider.
The code of Huawei dual-band combiner is 27040026. The dual-band combiner can
combine two frequency bands 800–1000MHz and 1700–2170MHz.
The configuration of dual-band combiner of BTS3012 and BTS30 is the same as the
configuration of independent dual-band combiner of BTS30.
Notes:
Currently, there is no tower amplifier that covers two frequency bands, so no tower
amplifier is configured when two frequency bands are combined. If a tower amplifier in
the network covers two frequency bands, and requires power supply from BTSs of
different models, the on-site personnel can contact R&D personnel to provide
configuration scheme according to the situation of the site.
BTS30 cannot support the electrical adjusted antenna. Therefore, BTS3012 should be
configured with BiasT with the OOK function when the electrical adjusted antenna is
configured.
When different cabinet groups are combined, you need set DIP switches of each cabinet
using the same mode as configuration for a group of the same type of cabinets. For
example, if BTS30 cabinets are configured in Slave Cabinet Group 1, the first BTS30 cabinet
is set to 3, and the second BTS30 cabinet is set to 4. If BTS312 cabinets are configured in
Slave Cabinet Group 2, the first BTS312 cabinet is set to 2, and the second BTS312 cabinet
is set to 3. The type of a cabinet is set according to the actual type of the cabinet.
The following sections describe the settings of DIP switches related to cabinet group
combination of master and slave cabinets.
When BTS3012 cabinets are configured as the master cabinet group, DIP switches related
to cabinet group combination are set on the DCSU board. A DCSU board has 14 DIP
switches. SW6 and SW7 are used to select E1 resistance. SW12–SW14 are reserved.
Figure 4 shows the distribution of DIP switches on the DCSU board.

need set DIP switches on the following boards in the slave cabinet group BTS30 or BTS312:
Notes:
If BTS30 cabinet groups are configured as slave cabinet groups, each of the slave
cabinet group can contain three cabinets; the cabinet numbers of Slave Cabinet Group 1
are 3–5; the cabinet numbers of Slave Cabinet Group 2 are 6–8.
If BTS312 cabinet groups are configured as slave cabinet groups, each of the slave
cabinet group can contain three cabinets; the cabinet numbers of Slave Cabinet Group 1
are 2 and 3; the cabinet numbers of Slave Cabinet Group 2 are 4 and 5.

Set up a site on the configuration console of OMC. Irrespective of what mode of cabinet
group combination, carrier 0–23 are in the master cabinet group; carrier 24–47 are in slave
cabinet group 1; carrier 48–71 are in slave cabinet group 2. The carrier number of slave
cabinet group 1 starts from 24. During configuration, you can select the type of slave cabinet
group.
The operations of boards of BTS30 and BTS312 cabinet groups that are configured as slave
cabinet groups are the same as that of the boards of independent BTS30 and BTS312
cabinets.

If BTS30 or BTS312 cabinet groups are configured as slave cabinet groups and use a
proper TMU software version, such as the G3BTS32V302R006C01 version, the BTS30 or
BTS312 cabinets can be configured with EAC. A site, however, can be configured with only
one environment alarm box. If a DEMU board is to be configured, the DEMU must be
configured in the first public slot of the master cabinet in the master cabinet group, and you
should not configure any EAC. If an EAC is to be configured for BTS30 or BTS312 cabinets,
you should not configure any DEMU for the BTS3012 cabinets. The operations of
environment alarm box are the same as the environment alarm box of the C01 version.
When BTS30 or BTS312 cabinets are configured as slave cabinet groups and use a proper
software version of TMU and carriers, such as the G3BTS32V302R006C01 version, the
allocation of 32K timeslots is supported. In this case, you can use the software parameter
table to allocate 32K timeslots to the carrier boards of the BTS30 and BTS312 cabinets. You
need not allocate 32K DBUS timeslots to the DTRU boards of BTS3012 cabinets.
You can set the mode of 32K timeslots by setting the software parameter table of the
smallest cell at the site. For specific method of setting, refer to the operation guide of the
G3BTS32V302R006C01 version.
When setting 32K software parameters, set parameter 5 of the smallest cell to 251. When
setting 64K software parameters, set parameter 5 of the smallest cell to 255.
