The Powerful 'AI Brain' Is Now Available For $1,999

The company NVIDIA is now fulfilling it’s customers dreams of powerful robotics brain for
projects with a chance of paying a premium.
NVIDIA is now selling the Jetson AGX Orin developer kit for $1,999.
The palm-sized computing device is now billed as eight times more powerful than Jetson
AGX Xavier because of its features like 12-core ARM Cortex-A78AE CPUs, Ampere-based
GPU and upgrades to its AI accelerators, interfaces, memory bandwidth and sensor support.
Users and customers have to wait a while more longer for production-ready units. According
to reports they will be available in the fourth quarter of the year.
For a 'basic' Orin NX kit with 6 CPU cores, a 1,792-core GPU, 8GB of RAM and 70 TOPS of
performance it costs around $399. In order to match the claimed 275 TOPS, people need to
use a $1,599 Orin module with the full 12 CPU cores, 2,048-core GPU and 64GB of RAM.
NVIDIA is doing more and more to give robot creators a helping hand, though.
NVIDIA is launching an Isaac Nova Orin platform which includes 2 Jetson AGX Orin
modules and the sensor suite which is needed for a robot to detect the world around it. This
platform can handle up to 6 cameras, 3 LiDAR units and 8 ultrasonic sensors.
Users and customers are also provided with the tools needed to simulate the robot, not to
mention support for software that helps speed up mapping, navigation and perception.
No clear view about the prices of extra module
NVIDIA had not mentioned anything about the pricing, but it is more safe and valid to
assume that the extra module and sensors will cost significantly more.
NVIDIA is keen to note about the existing Jetson users like John Deere and Hyundai
Robotics. Orin's extra performance is not guaranteed to lead to more intelligent robots, but
hoping that it should at least help those robots work and handle tasks more quickly when
compared.
