How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the ac vi es. Students are guided by the
teacher's direc on and expecta ons. Learning ac vi es are assigned to the student and mostly
prac ce based.

X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the ac vi es. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

X Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and comple ng projects to
demonstrate their learning. Addi onally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objec ve could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast,
pos ng the project to the classroom blog, presen ng it to another class, or publishing it via an
outside source.)
Lesson idea implementa on:
I will plan for my students to first start off the lesson by doing a mini experiment. With a parent or
guardian arounds, they will take some water and freeze it. They will watch the changes that have been
made. Then they will take the frozen water and place it on the counter observing the changes that have
been made. Lastly, they will then take what’s left and place it on the stove and watch what happens
there. Then they will write their observations down and create an audio message of what they
wondered, noticed and learned. Once posted, students will then take turns listening to each others
audio messages and write down one observation or notice that they didn’t realize before. Lastly, they
will watch a video on solids liquids and gasses. Students will be aware of their goals because they will
listen to the podcast provided as it shares the standard and clear objective. Students will utilize
technology because they will be in charge of creating audio messages and listening to other students
ideas. Students will receive feedback by hearing what others state and seeing how well it matches their
findings, and when students come to school the next day they will have a sticky note written for them
with feedback from me as the teacher, I will conclude the lesson by having a class discussion on what
students learned regarding solids, liquids, and gasses.
Managing student learning:
Students will be in charge of their own learning, ad hold that responsibility in their hands. Students
will move at their own pace and complete the lesson individually. The lesson is very hands on, s
student will be ac vely engaged in the learning process. Students will take as much me as they
need the night they do their experiment at home, but will be required to turn in an audio message.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Re ec on: Be sure to men on one speci c UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Mul ple Means of Engagement, Mul ple Means of Representa on,
or Mul ple Means of Ac on & Expression.
The technology tool students will be exposed to during this activity will support all students because it
addresses multiple learning styles. Students will have a hands on, verbal, and written, to where every
student can showcase their strengths. Students will have the ability to express what they have learned
in diverse ways- showing multiple means of action and expression.

Re ec on:
I feel this activity will impact student learning in a very positive way. During this activity, students
will be exposed to a new and fun technology piece that allows for creativeness and expression.
Students will have the ability to collaborate by listening to others audio messages and have fun while
doing so. I think podcasts are great for students because they are easy to follow along with, and do not
take up undivided attention. I look forward mostly to showing my students the new technology and
how to utilize it to their advantage because I believe it will be beneficial to their development, and will
make learning an interesting experience.
