CRANK SLIDER KINEMATICS

1- Draw a sketch representing centered crank slider mechanism. Show the


slider displacement corresponding to crank rotation.
2- Deduce slider displacement equation with respect to crank rotation.
3- Derive the instantaneous slider velocity and its acceleration.
4- Write a computer program to simulate the slider displacement, its velocity
and its acceleration
5- Draw a graph representing the instantaneous displacement of the slider, its
instantaneous velocity and its instantaneous acceleration with respect to
rotational angle.
6- Show the effect of the crank radius to connecting rod length ratio on the
mechanism kinematics. Show also the role of the rotational speed.
7- Prove that, the average slider speed doesn't depend on connecting rod
length.
8- Repeat from 1 to 6 for offset crank slider mechanism.

CRANK SLIDER DYNAMICS

1- Deduce the driving force applied on piston during the thermal cycle and
draw a sketch to represent its instantaneous variation.

2- Calculate the reciprocating driving force exerted on the piston at maximum


gas pressure. Calculate also the side thrust generated due to the connecting
rod inclination. Find also the rotational torque at this crank position.
