This course introduces the technician to the new Power stroke 6.0L introduced in
model year 2003. Differences between the 7.3L and the new 6.0 liter will be
presented. Use of the new PDA \VCM equipped scan tool will be presented and
reviewed.
Fuel system operation and description of the new injector used on this engine will
be discussed. Engine configuration and features will be discussed also. This will
include the cooling system and the lubrication system. VGT variable turbo
charging system will be viewed. EGR operation and related components will be
tested and viewed.
Operation and operational strategy of the Glow Plug system will be discussed.
Oil supply system and testing will be performed hands on. PCM related sensors
and actuators will be instructed and tested on vehicle. Emphasis will be on
diagnostic trouble code and test procedures.
Ford service information procedures will be utilized to ensure a more complete
diagnosis.
Given the service information, scan tool and tools and gauges, the technician will
diagnose common related driveability issues found on these vehicles.

About your Trainer:
The class is taught by Tony Salas, Tony is an automotive and diesel instructor
with over 20 years of teaching experience. Tony has provided contract training
for General Motors Fleet and Commercial as well as AC Delco. His training
experience includes Ford Power Stroke GM 6.5 and Duramax 6.6L training.
He also instructs various other topics such as Electrical \ Electronics, DT466,
automatic transmissions and body control features. His experience also includes
providing training in the post-secondary area where he instructed and developed
curriculum for the Community College in Las Vegas.
Tony also provided training in the entry level area where he instructed various
classes at the Toyota Urban League Automotive Training Center. His education
includes an Associate Degree in Automotive and Diesel Technology as well as a
Teaching Credential from Cal State Long Beach. He also holds various
certifications including ASE Master Technician.
Tony currently operates Performance Automotive Techniques as a training
provider for Diesel and Gasoline systems.
