Position Summary: Golf Course Superintendent, Frog's Breath Golf Course, New Liskeard, Course Designer: Doug Carrick,

www.frogsbreath.ca Responsible for developing and scheduling design, turf care and budget of The Frog's Breath Golf Course and property. Including overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the private golf course, practice facilities, and a corporate head office property. Golf Course construction, strategic planning for further development and renovation is an asset. Essential Job Functions: 1. Determine the need for irrigation, seeding rates, fertilization rates, sod cutting, cutting turf grass on fairways, tees, greens and roughs; raking sand traps, etc. 2. Hire, train, schedule, evaluate and discipline employees. 3. Oversee the scheduling of repairs for broken water lines or valves. 4. Assist in the redesigning and modification of the existing computerized irrigation system. 5. Coordinate with vendors and contractors to negotiate for price and quantities of needed supplies. 6. Ensure all workers are trained in the proper operation, care and maintenance of equipment. 7. Maintain detailed records of personnel, equipment used, supplies and schedules indicating application of fertilizers, sprays and chemicals and their use for each season. 8. Prepare maintenance annual budget that reflects necessary and requested expenditures. 9. Ability to plan and supervise re-construction projects 10.Liaise with golf course architect to plan and budget for additional 9 holes 11. Prepare annual water taking permits/records and submission and keep up to date Education/ Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Agronomy or Horticulture 5-7 years of golf course related experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


Extensive knowledge in the methods, equipment and materials used in golf course maintenance Comprehensive knowledge of general repair and maintenance procedures Comprehensive knowledge of the practices and principles of effective supervision Extensive knowledge of mixing and administering chemicals used in treating turf Ability to operate various golf course equipment Ability to develop professional relationship with vendors and contractors Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Licenses & Certification : IPM Accredited/Agent Ontario Pesticide Exterminators License Ontario/Canadian Golf Course Superintendents Association Competencies: Adaptability/Flexibility Decision Making/Judgment Managing for Results and Performance Negotiation & Organizational Skills Ability to carry out instructions and implement overall plan Ability to work with minimal supervision Minimum Education & Work Experience : 2 year college diploma in Agronomy or Horticulture 5 years related experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
