BEGINNER
01 - Sleeper
Make a large muscle up next to ear, making sure the yo-yo is held in
towards you. Also check to make sure the string is coming over the top of
the yo-yo.
Throw the yo-yo by bringing your arm straight out and letting the yo-yo
fall directly over the tips of your fingers. The spin of the yo-yo comes
mostly from the snap of the wrist.
Once the yo-yo is spinning at the end of the string, simply turn your hand
over and give it just a slight tug up. The yo-yo will grab the string and
then return to your hand.
02 - Walk The Dog
Throw a strong Sleeper.
Slowly lower the yo-yo until it touches the ground. As soon as it touches
the ground it will walk away from you.
After letting the yo-yo walk for about one foot, simply raise the yo-yo
off the ground, then a small tug to return the yo-yo to your waiting
hand.
03 - Creeper
Throw a strong Sleeper.
Rock the yo-yo out away from you and then slowly let it touch to the
ground. As soon as it touches the ground bring your throw hand down to
the ground and a small tug will return the yo-yo to your waiting hand.
04 - Forward Pass
Start with your hand down by your side with the yo-yo facing in towards
your body.
Throw the yo-yo out away from you by swinging it out with your throw
hand.
Once the yo-yo has reached the end of the string, turn you hand over
and allow the yo-yo to return to your open waiting hand.
05 - Around The World
Start with your throw hand down by your side and throw the yo-yo
straight out, as in Forward Pass.

1
Once the yo-yo reaches the end of a string, swing it around in a
continuous circle.
Once the yo-yo reaches its starting position, turn your throw hand over
and allow the yo-yo to return to your hand.

06 - Breakaway
Make a muscle just like you would throw a Sleeper, but turn your arm to
the side of your body.
Throw the yo-yo straight out the side of your body and swing it around
the front of your body ending just about shoulder height. Turn your hand
under to catch.
07 - Rock The Baby
Start with a Sleeper. Take your non-throw hand and pinch the string
between your thumb and pointer.
Using your throw hand pinch the string just above the yo-yo.
Put your non-throw hand into the string that you pinched, and pull
straight down in towards your body.
Spread the fingers of your non-throw hand out to open the triangle.
Simply rock the yo-yo between the triangle about four or five times.
Let the yo-yo out of the front of the triangle and slowly lower it
completely to the end of the string, then simply return to your waiting
hand.
08 - Jamaican Flag
Start with a Sleeper. Take your non-throw hand and using three fingers
grab the string.
Take your throw hand and again using three fingers grab the string
underneath what you grabbed in Step 1.
Again with three fingers from your non-throw hand, grab the string
underneath what you grabbed in Step 2. Pull what you grabbed up so that
you are holding your hands similar to how you hold a steering wheel.
Using the pinky of your throw hand grab the string hanging off your non-
throw hand. Display the Jamaican Flag.
Slowly let the yo-yo down as you let the string fall off your fingers.
Then simply tug the yo-yo back to your hand.

2
09 - Eiffel Tower
Start with a Sleeper. Make an L with your throw hand.
Using your non-throw hand grab the string hanging over the L and pull it
into towards you, much like making a slingshot.
Reach through the slingshot you created and pull the one string hanging
down entirely through the slingshot.
Take your throw hand which is still in the shape of an L and turn it down
in towards your body. Using your pointer and middle fingers pinch the
string hanging from the yo-yo.
Simply turn both hands as to display your Eiffel Tower. Then simply let
the string fall off your hand and return the yo-yo.
10 - UFO / Flying Saucer
Start with your hand sideways. If you are throwing to your non-throw
hand side notice you must turn your hand differently. Give a strong throw
so the yo-yo spins horizontally. Throwing to your throw hand side tightens
the string while throwing to your non-throw hand side loosens the string.
Bring your throw hand down almost immediately and pinch the string just
above the yo-yo. Raise it to shoulder height.
Let the yo-yo go allowing it to grab the string and return to your hand.
It is important that you release it at shoulder height so that it can
better grab the string and return.
11 - Pop The Clutch
Start with a strong Sleeper. Bring the yo-yo and string around the back
of your throw hand shoulder.
Bring your throw hand down and pinch the string just above the yo-yo.
Tug the yo-yo string straight up. The yo-yo should grab the string and
send itself over your shoulder.
As soon as the yo-yo goes over your shoulder, make a quick jerking
motion to return the yo-yo to your hand.

3
INTERMEDIATE
12 - Trapeze

Start with a Breakaway.

As the yo-yo swings in front of you, bring your non-throw hand down on
the string as close to the yo-yo as possible without touching it. (The
closer your finger is the more likely you will land it on the string.)
Dismount from the trapeze how ever you like. In the video a Ferris
Wheel dismount is done. But the easiest way when first learning is to just
pop the yo-yo back off the string and then catch.
13 - Dizzy Baby

Start with Rock the Baby and perform three full rocks.
After the third rock, you are going to swing the yo-yo in towards
yourself so that is swing completely around and back through the triangle.
Do this three times.
After the third spin, simply lower the yo-yo out through the front of the
triangle and return to hand.
14 - Braintwister
Start with a Sleeper.

Push the pointer finger of your non-throw hand into the string.
Using your throw hand thread the string into the grove of the yo-yo from
behind, and bring it up and around to the front. (This is called a
braintwister mount.)
Bring your throw hand in towards the string and guide in a complete circle
around your finger. Repeat this three or four times for good practice.
To dismount from the braintwister mount bring your non-throw hand in
towards your body swinging the yo-yo out into a sleeper. Return yo-yo to
hand.
15 - Drop In The Bucket
Start with a Breakaway. Make an L with your non-throw hand and drape
the string over the back side of your hand between the pointer finger
and thumb.

4
Using your throw hand bring the string first around your thumb, and then
around your pointer finger.
Using your throw hand pointer finger reach under the string around your
thumb and pointer, and pull the string connected to the yo-yo away from
the non-throw hand.
Rock the yo-yo up and onto the string that you pulled. Let it sit there
and then simply hop it off the way it came on. Return yo-yo to hand.
16 - Sidewinder

Start with a Sleeper.

Using your throw hand pull either to the right or left and give just a
slight tug as you do so. The yo-yo as it returns grabs the string using its
spin and actually tightens and loosens the string the same as a UFO
would. (Tighter if the hand moves towards your throw hand side and
looser if it moves towards your non-throw hand side.) Catch the yo-yo as
it returns to your hand.
17 - Stop and Go
Start with brain twister mount from Braintwister.
Bring you non-throw hand over your throw hand. Give the yo-yo a
straight up jerk catch it between your two hands as it snaps up.
Bring your throw hand underneath the yo-yo.
Pull just your throw hand straight down. The yo-yo should spin with the
string hanging over you non-throw hand. Then simply return to your hand.
(If it is not hanging off your throw hand it sometimes helps to pinch the
string with your non-throw hand’s thumb before pulling straight down.)
18 - Double or Nothing
Start with a Breakaway.
Swing the yo-yo around your non-throw hand finger, around your throw
hand finger, and finally bring the yo-yo as close to your non-throw hand
finger as possible. (It helps to swing the yo-yo closer the first time
around, and then when landing it on your finger, land it closer to the
edge of your finger.
Pull your throw hand finger out of the string that is around it. Then
swing the yo-yo out towards your left.

5
19 - Split The Atom
Start with a Sleeper and push your non-throw hand into the string.
Using your throw hand pointer finger push into the string just above the
yo-yo. Once the yo-yo has hit the string, give it slack so that it sits in
the hold of the strings. This is called a Split Bottom Mount.
Use your throw hand to bring the yo-yo forward over your non-throw
hand pointer finger.
Now use your non-throw hand pointer finger and push it directly into the
two strings in front of the yo-yo. Then using your throw hand pointer pull
the string in towards yourself and thread the yo-yo onto the same string
it is sitting on.
Finally perform three Brain twisters and perform a Braintwister dismount.
20 - Atomic Bomb
Start with a Split Bottom Mount as in Split The Atom.
Just as in Split The Atom use your throw hand to bring the yo-yo
forward over your non-throw hand pointer finger.
Use your throw hand to swing the yo-yo onto the string that is directly
above it, or in other words simply push your throw hand forward and
make the yo-yo go over it. This move places you back into a Split Bottom
Mount.
After repeating steps 2 and 3 always finish with one more of step 2,
then simply drop the string of your throw hand pointer finger and do a
Braintwister dismount, returning the yo-yo to your hand.
21 - Mach 5
Start with a Split Bottom Mount as in Split The Atom.
Just as in Split The Atom use your throw hand to bring the yo-yo
forward over your non-throw hand pointer finger.
Using just your non-throw hand finger continue moving it up and around
your other finger, continuing around the yo-yo until it is directly
underneath.
Now you will be in a hold where you have a hand above and below the yo-
yo. Simply move your hands in a circle away from you at the same time.
(Do this for 4 or 5 reps trying to isolate the yo-yo in one place.)

6
To dismount end with your non-throw hand in the front and drop the
string off your throw hand pointer. Braintwister dismount.
22 - Ripcord
Start with a Split Bottom Mount as in Split The Atom.
Bring your non-throw hand pointer finger in towards your body pushing, it
into the string just above the yo-yo. This causes the yo-yo to land onto
the string.
Once again bring your non-throw hand in for a second time and land the
yo-yo on the string again so it should now be on there doubled up.
Simply drop your throw hand pointer finger and pull the string in towards
yourself. This should cause the yo-yo to unwrap itself and you will end up
in what looks similar to a trapeze. Return the yo-yo to hand.
23 - Binding
Start with a strong Sleeper. Land the yo-yo onto the string by pushing
down on the string in towards you.
Binding is used to recall a yo-yo back to your hand that cannot respond.
To do this special move, bring you hand down in towards the yo-yo
putting the string into the gap. As you feed the string into the gap the
yo-yo will grab itself and recall it back to your hand.
Throw a strong Sleeper. Instead this time you will start by mounting the
yo-yo onto the string the opposite way from Step 1 by pushing from
underneath into the string.
Again, bind the yo-yo back to your hand by pulling the string down into
the gap of the yo-yo.

7
ADVANCED
24 - Wormhole
Start with a Split Bottom Mount as in Split The Atom and perform a full
Ripcord.
Place your throw hand pointer finger into the loop hanging off of your
non-throw hand. Roll the yo-yo forward once similar to the beginning of
Split The Atom.
Use your throw hand to push into the string and land the yo-yo doubled
up on the string. (Doing Ripcord but backwards.)
Use your throw hand once again to push into the string and land a triple
time on the string.
Drop your non-throw hand pointer finger and pull. Use a Brain Twister
dismount to return to hand.
25 - Zipper
Start with a Brain Twister mount.
Perform a Brain Twister dismount, but instead of catching stick out your
thumb or middle finger on your non-throw hand and catch the yo-yo on
the opposite side of the string.
Perform an extra roll forward of the yo-yo by using your throw hand to
wrap around your non-throw hand and roll forward back into a Brain
Twister mount.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 a couple times, and then perform a regular Brain
Twister Dismount to catch.
26 - Buddha's Revenge
Start with a Breakaway.
This is called a One And A Half Mount. As you will see it is what it says,
not quite a Double or Nothing. What you do is allow the yo-yo to swing
around your non-throw hand pointer only once and then bring it around
and under your throw hand pointer. Again it helps to bring the yo-yo as
close to the string as possible.
Swing the yo-yo completely over your throw hand and ending on the
opposite side of your non-throw hand.

8
Bring your non-throw hand underneath the yo-yo causing it to land on the
string in the middle of your two hands.
Use your throw hand to land the yo-yo back on the string so it is back
into a One And A Half Mount.
After repeating steps 3, 4, and 5 you are going to let the yo-yo roll out
from your throw hand and finally land it into a Trapeze. I ended in a
Ferris Wheel Dismount.
27 - Rewind
Start with a Breakaway.
Bounce the yo-yo off the string and land backwards on your throw hand
pointer finger. In order to do this you will have to stick out your thumb
or middle finger of your non-throw hand to grab the string. This is called
a Trapeze and his Brother.
Bounce the yo-yo back of the Trapeze and his Brother into a Double or
Nothing.
Bounce the yo-yo back off Double or Nothing and land backwards again
on your throw hand pointer. Again you will have to stick out your thumb
or middle finger to grab the string.
Finally bounce the yo-yo back off and all the way around into what is
called a Triple or Nothing. To dismount drop off your throw hand pointer
finger, and roll out as you would at the end of Double or Nothing.
28 - Boing E Boing
Start with a Split Bottom Mount as in Split The Atom. Raise the yo-yo
up so your throw hand is above it and your non-throw hand below it.
Making sure your hands are lines up while make the next few steps much
easier.
Bounce the yo-yo off the front string by raising your throw hand pointer
finger straight up. Immediately start to lower it as soon as it hits the
string, which will cause it to start bouncing back.
As the yo-yo bounces back raise your throw hand pointer finger back up
causing the yo-yo to go backwards into the back string. Immediately
start to lower it as soon as it hits the string, which will cause it to start
bouncing forward.
After repeating steps 2 and 3 for a good few times, drop the yo-yo back
onto the string and end in a simple Braintwister dismount.

9
29 - The Matrix
Start with a Double or Nothing.
Just as in Double or Nothing drop the string off your throw hand and roll
the yo-yo out towards your non-throw hand side into trapeze.
Using your throw hand bring the string over the pointer finger of your
non-throw hand and back to its resting position. Then again roll the yo-yo
out towards your non-throw hand side; you will still be in trapeze.
Let the yo-yo fall over your throw hand finger and roll it back into a
double or nothing. (Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 about three times.
To dismount I ended with a Ferris wheel dismount, where you bring the
string over the pointer finger of your non-throw hand and swing the yo-
yo out and then straight up to a catch.
30 - Boomerang
Start with a Sleeper. Bring it half way into a Brain Twister mount.
To launch it out pull your non-throw hand in a quick straight up motion.
At the same time you are going to want to move your throw hand closer
to your non-throw hand. (All the power really comes from the non-throw
hand.)
By returning your hands to their original positions it should cause the yo-
yo to return falling back into the string. The key to this is to make sure
that the string is straight between your hands.
After repeating steps 2 and 3 a couple of times I moved my throw hand
pointer up into the string in front of my non-throw hand and allowed the
yo-yo to hit the string there. Move forward and into a Brain Twister
dismount.
31 - Mondial
Start with a Split Bottom Mount as in Split The Atom.

Perform the first part of Mach 5.

You are going to want to do something similar to how you pop in Kiwjibo, a
combination between tossing and popping. Pop it straight up and then
cross your hands, throw hand over non-throw hand. This should end you
in a Split Bottom Mount.

10
Move the yo-yo once forward, drop the string off your throw hand
pointer finger and braintwister dismount.
32 - Eli Hops
Start with a Trapeze.
To launch the yo-yo straight up your want to make a combined move of
your throw hand pulling away, and your non-throw hand moving down and
in towards your throw hand.
To bring the yo-yo back the throw hand is the key. Make sure you pull it
back directly straight. As long as pull it back in a straight line the yo-yo
should hit back on it.

Ferris Wheel Dismount as was explained in The Matrix.

33 - Leg Wrap Trapeze

Start with a Breakaway and swing it once in front of your body. (As you
will see in the video, I grab the string while doing this to shorten it and
make the trick easier.)
Step forward with your throw hand side leg and swing the yo-yo one full
swing underneath that leg.
Bring your throw hand side leg backwards, and bring your non-throw hand
leg forward and allow the yo-yo to swing underneath this leg and behind
the back and into a trapeze.

Any dismount to return yo-yo to hand.

34 - McBride Roller Coaster

Start with a Breakaway but continue swinging it around one full time in
front of your body, also known as a World Tour. (Like a sideways around
the world.) Finally land it into a One And A Half Mount as in Buddha's
Revenge.
Swing all the way out of it around back into a Trapeze and his Brother as
in Rewind. (Bounce the yo-yo off the string and land backwards on your
throw hand pointer finger. In order to do this you will have to stick out
your thumb or middle finger of your non-throw hand to grab the string.)
Swing that off the string all the way back into a Double or Nothing.
Drop the string off your throw hand pointer finger and roll back into
Trapeze.

11
Take your throw hand and place your pointer finger inside the loop that is
on your non-throw hand pointer finger. Keep your non-throw hand pointer
finger in there and roll the yo-yo in a complete circle and roll towards
your non-throw hand side. Swing it around twice finally landing it on the
front string. This should place you in a Triple or Nothing.
Drop off your throw hand pointer finger, roll out into trapeze and
dismount.
35 - Kwijibo
Start with a Trapeze. Pop the yo-yo straight up and cross your hands,
hitting your throw hand into the string just below the yo-yo. This will
cause the yo-yo to land on the string between your crossed hands.
Swing the yo-yo towards your throw hand side which should cause you to
uncross and then re-cross your hands.
This is the trickiest part. You need to pop the yo-yo straight up. (It is
really a combination of a straight up toss and pulling your hands apart at
the same time.) Once above your hands, just uncross them straight
across causing the yo-yo to land directly into a Double or Nothing.
The last step you pop the yo-yo straight up again, this time just dropping
off strings and finally ending in a Trapeze. Ferris Wheel Dismount is
shown.
36 - Plastic Whip
Start with a Sleeper. (You are going to want a fairly unresponsive yo-yo
for this trick)
Make an L shape with your throw hand. Bring your thumb down in front of
the string and then turn the hand up towards your body so the string is
hanging off your thumb.
Bring your hand up and swing it forward creating a loop over your thumb.
The string should swing forward down over the yo-yo. End with thumb in
front and your middle finger pointing behind.
Although there are many dismounts out of this, I simply dropped off the
string. Return the yo-yo to your hand.
37 - Slack Trapeze
Start with a Trapeze but bounce it off of the string, pinching the string
there between your pointer and thumb.

Using your throw hand, toss the string to your non-throw hand side. As

12
long as you pinch the string it will swing over and should land around one
half of the yo-yo. Look at View 2 for a good example.
Roll the yo-yo, keeping your throw hand still and mainly using your non-
throw hand to roll; it should make the yo-yo roll out back into a trapeze
undoing the wrap around the axle.
Ferris Wheel Dismount as was explained in The Matrix.
38 - Snap Start
To start the Snap Start, simply hold the yo-yo in your throw hand. Place
your thumb on the side in towards yourself, with your middle and index
finger on the far side.
To snap it is a similar to how you "snap your fingers" to make that
snapping sound. Push your thumb up hard against the yo-yo and your
middle finger down the opposite way. Your index finger is mostly used to
guide the yo-yo into the air.
Note: In the video the yo-yo is caught between the thumb and middle
finger. This is just a fancy way to do this trick. First practice just
spinning it, and then move onto this to gain control of your snap start.
If you have done it correctly the yo-yo should be spinning fast enough to
return to your hand with a bind.
Note: in the video from the thumb mount, it is dismounted in a ripcord
motion pushing into the string twice.
39 - Wrist Whips
Start with a Breakaway. Note: This trick may require a less responsive
yo-yo.
In one smooth motion take the throw hand and make a sharp half circular
movement in the direction of the yo-yo. What this does is causes the
string to come around your wrist down towards the yo-yo. Bring your
wrist close to the yo-yo to help guide the string into the gap.
Dismount from the wrist hold by pushing into the throw hand attached
string with your non-throw hand. Return it to the original position.
The second wrist whip is simply making a single circle around the yo-yo,
and then whipping the string towards the gap. This is more of a flourish
than anything and if done smoothly can be very eye appealing.
Again dismount from the wrist hold by pushing into the throw hand
attached string with your non-throw hand. Return it to the original

13
position.

The third wrist whip is making two circular motions before making the
whipping motion. Again this is more of a flourish but if done well looks
extremely difficult...
Again dismount from the wrist hold by pushing into the throw hand
attached string with your non-throw hand. Return to the hand.
40 - How To Grind
Note: Start by learning Throw hand Grind to help get the feel for
controlling the yo-yo.
Throw a strong Breakaway. A strong throw is the key to Grinding. The
stronger you throw the longer you will be able to control the yo-yo on
your body. To start a basic grind, begin by popping the yo-yo into the
air.
Use your throw hand pointer finger to help direct where to catch the yo-
yo. Point the index finger towards the gap and make a quick motion
towards the yo-yo to catch on your arm. Note the angle of the arm is
initially a little steeper and slowly comes down to control the yo-yo up
the arm. Practice pushing the arm in towards the yo-yo to gain more
control.
To end either pop or draw back down onto the string and recall to the
hand.
41 - Thumb Grind
Start with a strong throw and go into a Man on the Trapeze.
Using the thumb from your non-throw hand, slowly bring it up and under
the inner edge of the yo-yo letting it rest on top of the finger. As soon
as it hits, the yo-yo will begin to process around on your thumb.
Try and guide the thumb around with it as best as you can until it falls
off the tip of your thumb. Recall to your hand.

14
EXPERT
42 - Dr.Strange
Start with a Double or Nothing.
Bring your throw hand over your non-throw hand so that your hands are
crossed and pull this string tight. (Should look similar to a sideways Mach
5.)
Turn your hands in a circle at the same time crossing them and uncrossing
them, but keeping the yo-yo isolated in its one spinning position.
Drop the string off your throw hand pointer finger, and swing the yo-yo
once towards your non-throw hand side.
Roll the yo-yo, keeping your throw hand still and mainly using your non-
throw hand to roll it in the same direction as the last step. It should
make the yo-yo roll out back into a trapeze undoing the wrap around the
axle. (Watch View 2 for help)
43 - Over Under Boing E Boing
Start with a Boing E Boing.
On a forward boing, give the yo-yo a little slack and allow it to go under
the front of your non-throw hand finger, but continue the boinging motion
so that it goes under and then continues back into the front string.
On a backward boing give the yo-yo a little slack and allow it to go under
the back of your non-throw hand finger, but continue the boinging motion
so that it goes under and then continues back into the back string.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 a couple times then finish the same way you would
finish Boing E Boing, roll forward, braintwister dismount.
44 - Throw hand Grind
Start with a Trapeze.
Bounce the yo-yo back off the string the way you landed it and bring it
up onto your throw hand allowing it to sit there for a second, and then
fall back onto the string.
Perform a somersault as described in The Matrix. Allow the momentum of
the somersault to bring the yo-yo back up onto your throw hand. Let it
sit there for a second, and then fall back onto the string.

15
Any dismount or flyaway dismount as seen in the video.
45 - Suicide
Start with a Trapeze.
You are going to bring the string underneath the yo-yo and then just as
the string hits your throw hand finger, let go and this should create a
large loop. Using your non-throw hand stick your finger back into the
loop. (Sometimes it helps to use a more responsive yo-yo or a less heavy
yo-yo in my experience.)
Repeat step 2 as many times as you want and return with any dismount.
46 - Cold Fusion
Start with a Double or Nothing.
Bring your throw hand underneath the yo-yo. As you master this trick
you should be able to do it with just a slight movement of your non-throw
hand.
This time bring your non-throw hand underneath the yo-yo. As you
master this trick, again, you should be able to do it with just a slight
movement of your throw hand. You should end without your hands
crossed.
Swing the yo-yo completely over your throw hand and ending on the
opposite side of your non-throw hand as in Buddha's Revenge.
Swing the yo-yo back the way it came, so just undo what you just did but
add one more spin in that direction, so the yo-yo should spin one more
time around your throw hand pointer finger.
Undo the yo-yo and roll it back into a trapeze just like the end to
Buddha's Revenge.
47 - Iron Whip
Start with a Trapeze.
Place your throw hand into the string and hold onto it with your whole
hand.
Pop the yo-yo up on the side of the string closest to your body and make
a whipping motion with your throw hand down towards the yo-yo. It’s
much easier to guide if you pinch the string as you whip. (View 2 is great
for this)

16
After doing a few repatitions of steps 2 and 3 simply roll out into
Trapeze and catch.
48 - Shockwave
Start with a Trapeze.
Make an L with your pointer and thumb of your throw hand. Bring it down
and twist in towards yourself so that you end up with a string hanging
over your thumb and pointer. (See View 2) Then roll the yo-yo
underneath and over your throw hand. The yo-yo should drop of the
string and end on just the string closest to you. This is an important
move and is known as the Magic Drop.
Curve your throw hand pointer finger in towards yourself and using your
non-throw hand guide the yo-yo onto the string closest to you.

Repeat steps 2 and 3 a couple times. End with a Flyaway Dismount.

49 - Skin The Gerbil (First Person View)

Start with a Trapeze.
Bring your throw hand in towards the yo-yo and guide once around the
string and continue the motion into a double on trapeze.
Unroll the yo-yo from the double on trapeze and send it around to the
throw hand and do a double on trapeze.
Again unroll the yo-yo and swing it back around to your non-throw hand,
but this time miss the string once by swinging the yo-yo in front the
string and then landing it double on the string.
Unroll the yo-yo and perform a flyaway dismount to return the yo-yo.
50 - Laceration
Start with a Breakaway.
Whip your hand down in a circular motion aiming towards the gap of the
yo-yo. What should happen is you should create a loop of string that you
can stick your finger into. (View 2 is a good example of the motion.)
Flyaway dismount to catch.
51 - Spirit Bomb
Start by throwing a breakaway. Swing the yo-yo around your non-throw
hand pointer finger, and then continue so the string goes around the lower

17
part of your throw hand wrist. Continue swinging it around your pointer
one more time, and a triangle should form that you can land the yo-yo in
the middle of. (See View 2) This is called a Spirit Bomb Mount.
Drop your non-throw hand pointer finger out and then insert it back into
string on your throw hand side. Then bring it under the yo-yo towards
your non-throw hand side.
Now bring your non-throw hand pointer into the string in the center
causing the yo-yo to land double onto it.
The next step is very similar to the pop in Kwijibo. You are going to
pop/toss the yo-yo straight up into the string just above it, and then
cross your non-throw hand over your throw hand. See video for what the
hold should look like.
You are now going to pop it straight up again, this time towards the front
and not into a string. Pop/toss it straight up, uncross your hands and the
yo-yo should come straight down into the triangle created, again see
video.
Drop your non-throw hand pointer finger out and then insert it back into
string on your throw hand side again. Then bring it under the yo-yo
towards your non-throw hand side and bring your non-throw hand pointer
into the string connected to the yo-yo, so that the yo-yo will hit the
string and land only on that string. Then drop everything off your throw
hand, and Ferris wheel dismount.
52 - Grind Transfer
Throw a very strong Breakaway and let the yo-yo swing up towards your
non-throw hand.
Using your pointer finger from your non-throw hand guide the yo-yo up
onto the side of the hand and attempt to control it there. As its sitting
there, in one smooth motion bring your throw hand across pushing the
string back away from the yo-yo.
Point your throw hand pointer finger towards the yo-yo and allow it to
grind up and onto the arm. Control it up and over.
Any dismount from this. The front view of this video has a whip after it
comes off the elbow, and the first person video simply lands it back on to
the string.
53 - Gyroscopic Flop

18
Start with a strong Sleeper. It is important to have the yo-yo spinning
fast and straight for this trick.
It is recommended that you learn Plastic Whip for this first mount. As
seen in the video the string is laid over your thumb just as if you were
going to perform a plastic whip, but instead do it in midair, while holding
the yo-yo up with your non-throw hand.
Once the string has been whipped onto the yo-yo grip it hard with all
four fingers of your throw hand. Pull in towards your self and just a little
towards your non-throw hand side. The yo-yo will rotate in a circle. Try
and keep the string dead center in the gap, while slightly moving the
string with it as it spins.
To dismount is a little different. You can actually use the spin of the yo-
yo for this. As you finish the trick, look straight down into the gap of
the yo-yo to see where the string is. Pull the throw hand with string
towards the side of the yo-yo that it is on. The spin of the yo-yo pulls
the yo-yo right out of the mount and you can then return it to your
hand.
Note: You can also count how many times the yo-yo went around to figure
out which side to pull the string. If it went around an even amount of
half turns then you can safely pull towards your throw hand side to
dismount.
54 - Revolutions
Start with a one and a half mount as in Buddha's Revenge.
Just as you are going into the one and a half mount pinch the string with
your throw hand just above the yo-yo itself. As you pinch allow the yo-yo
to swing in the direction it was swinging when you went into the one and a
half mount. By pinching a loop should be created that will follow the yo-
yo around as you swing it. The first swing goes on the far side of your
body, and the second goes on the inside of your arm.
Note: It is very important to do this in one general motion in order to
create the proper loop.
Continue swinging in then out, and in then out for as many times as you
wish.
On one last spin to the outside bring your non-throw hand pointer finger
in towards the loop and stop the rotation of the yo-yo. This should bring
you back into a one and a half mount which you can then return to your

19
hand with any dismount.

55 - Thumb Grind Transfer

Start with a very strong Breakaway.
Hop the yo-yo into the air with a slight jerking motion. Aim the thumb
from your non-throw hand towards the inside of the yo-yo and land it on
the edge. Allow the yo-yo to process around.
Just as the yo-yo turns sideways bring the thumb from your throw hand
in towards the yo-yo, and transfer it over. Continue the thumb grind
allowing it to completely process around.
Note: It sometimes helps to grab the string and hold it away to keep it
from grabbing the yo-yo.
As it comes completely around toss it off your thumb and return to the
hand.
56 - Bucket Hops Via Whip Formation
Throw a Trapeze. Swing the yo-yo off the trapeze and over your throw
hand to create a loop of string. Grip this loop and whip it towards your
non-throw hand.
Point the thumb and pointer fingers of your non-throw hand towards the
loop being whipped over. As soon as you are able to grab the loop swing
the yo-yo up and into the middle string hanging. You should now be in a
Drop in the Bucket mount.
Now that you are in the mount use your non-throw hand to pop the yo-yo
into the air, and use your throw hand to help guide it back down into the
string. These motions are very similar to small Eli Hops.
Note: You can skip steps 2 and 3 by doing the regular Drop in the Bucket
mount.
To end pop the yo-yo into the air, drop the Bucket Mount, and land into
a Trapeze. Return the yo-yo to your hand.
57 - Trapeze to Triangle / Whip to Triangle
Start with a Trapeze.
Swing your throw hand in towards your non-throw hand to create a loop
of string that comes over towards the yo-yo. Just after you swing the
string, bring your throw hand up and close to your non-throw hand. What
this does is allow the whipped loop of string to fall over the string

20
attached to your throw hand, and then catch the yo-yo.

Drop all of the strings except for your thumb and you should find
yourself in a Triangle hold. To release the yo-yo pop it out on the side
away from your body and land back onto the string.
Drop the yo-yo off the string and let hang down. This time you are going
to make a whipping motion towards your pointer finger. Use the same
motion from Step 2 to bring the loop of string over the attached string
just before it whips the yo-yo. You should be left with a Triangle mount
hanging off your pointer finger.
Again pop the yo-yo out on the side away from your body, land back onto
the string and return to your hand.
58 - Trap Whip and Reverse Trap Whip
Start with a Breakaway.
Point the index finger of your non-throw hand straight out. Make a quick
swinging motion with your throw hand towards that pointer finger. As the
yo-yo shoots up a loop of string should swing up and under the pointer
finger. The closer to the pointer finger you are, the more likely the loop
will swing around and hook onto the yo-yo.
To dismount swing the yo-yo towards your non-throw hand side (counter
clockwise) once, then use your non-throw hand to unwrap the extra string
wrap on the yo-yo and swing back into a regular Trapeze.
From the Trapeze, hop the yo-yo into the air, and in a reverse circular
motion from Step 2, shoot your throw hand towards your non-throw hand
pointer. Again a loop of string should swing out and over the pointer
finger this time, catching the yo-yo in the reverse way from last time.
To dismount swing the yo-yo in the opposite direction from Step 3
(Clockwise) and as you do so let the yo-yo pass over your throw hand to
undo the wrap. From here return the yo-yo to your hand.
59 - Wrist Mounts (3 Variations)
Start with a Trapeze.
Use your non-throw hand to pinch the string as your throw hand makes a
large swinging motion towards and underneath the yo-yo. This should
cause a large loop of string to be thrown over the non-throw hand.
Position your wrist directly into it.

21
Note: This is also called a Cheese Whip according to the World Yo-Yo
Contest.
Swing the yo-yo directly into the center of the string and you should be
in a Spirit Bomb Mount.
Dismount from Spirit Bomb as normal and return to a Trapeze.
Toss the yo-yo off the Trapeze and pinch the string between the pointer
and thumb of your non-throw hand.
Use your throw hand to toss a loop of string over the wrist. Move your
throw hand down and in a circular motion back in towards your body to
bring the loop under and then over the string connected to the yo-yo.
Grab the loop of that string with the pointer finger of your non-throw
hand.
Swing the yo-yo directly into the center of the string and you should
again be in a Spirit Bomb Mount. Dismount back into a Trapeze.
This one can be a little more difficult. Swing the yo-yo off the string
and make one large swinging motion to bring it over and back around. At
the same time use your throw hand to "throw" the string directly down
just as the yo-yo passes by. If done correctly you should be able to
insert your wrist into the thrown string in time to swing the yo-yo into
the string closest to your body. This will place you into a Sprit Bomb
Mount.
Dismount and return the yo-yo to your hand.

22
MASTER
60 - Takashi Boing
Begin with Boing E Boing.
Using your throw hand, swing the yo-yo forward off the string, and then
around in towards yourself in a full circle bringing it back around onto
the string. Perform a couple more regular boings.
Using your throw hand again swing the yo-yo in a full circle out away
from you and land in the back of the string. Perform a couple more
boings.
Dismount by moving the string forward, dropping of your pointer, and a
braintwister dismount.
61 - Suicide 1.5
Begin with a Trapeze.
Throw a Suicide under your throw hand as shown before, but instead of
catching normally cross your throw hand over to catch the loop and bring
your non-throw hand over into the string, landing you into a One and a
Half Mount.
Dismount however you like, I rolled it over as in Buddha's Revenge and
dismounted with a Ferris wheel dismount.
62 - SeaSick
Begin with a Split Bottom Mount as in Split the Atom.

Bring the yo-yo back into the string closest to you.

Move your throw hand up and your non-throw hand down to push the yo-
yo into the upper string, make sure you keep your hands straight.

Now move your throw hand down and your non-throw hand up to push the
yo-yo down into the lower string.
After repeating steps 3 and 4 as many times as you like, roll the yo-yo
forward, drop the string off your pointer and return the yo-yo to your
hand with a braintwister dismount.
63 - Grind Thru Triangle

23
Begin with a Spirit Bomb mount as in Spirit Bomb.
Pop the yo-yo out the front of the Spirit Bomb mount. Hold onto the
triangle with your non-throw hand.
Bring your throw hand down towards the yo-yo and let the yo-yo sit and
grind on it. Guide it up your arm and through the triangle being formed
with your non-throw hand.

Land back into trapeze and any dismount or flyaway as in video.

64 - And Whut?
Start with a Houdini Drop as was explained in Kamikaze, but bring your
finger around the yo-yo to create an extra string wrap around it.
Drop the string of your pointer and undo the wrap simultaneously, you
want to try and do this smoothly. Bring the yo-yo over your throw hand
and push the throw hand into the string causing the yo-yo to go into the
string and end on the opposite side of your non-throw hand.
Push your non-throw hand into the string and the yo-yo should pop out
the front side of the string.
Curve your pointer finger in towards yourself and pull the string in. Push
the yo-yo directly into the string.
Grab the string closest to the yo-yo and pull away from your throw hand,
while also untwisting the pointer finger of your throw hand. Pop the yo-yo
from the back onto the top string.
Swing the yo-yo around and over your throw hand, landing it under as in
White Buddha.
Jump the yo-yo straight up and bring your hands up and under the yo-yo.
(See View 2)
Swing the yo-yo over towards your non-throw hand side. Drop the string
off your non-throw hand pointer finger.
Jump the string from the back onto the top string, land back into
Trapeze to any dismount.
65 - Black Hops
Begin with a Triple or Nothing. Jump the yo-yo straight up, just dropping
the very most forward string off your non-throw hand pointer and landing
it on the front string running across.

24
Jump the yo-yo straight up, dropping the very most forward string off
your throw hand pointer and landing it into Double or Nothing.
Jump the yo-yo straight up, just dropping the very most forward string
off your non-throw hand pointer and landing it on the front string running
across, similar to a Trapeze and his Brother.
Jump the yo-yo straight up, dropping the very most forward string off
your throw hand pointer and landing it into Trapeze.
Jump the yo-yo straight up and bring your throw hand down over the
string landing the yo-yo again in something similar to Trapeze and his
Brother
Jump the yo-yo straight up and bring your non-throw hand down over the
string landing the yo-yo again in something similar to Double or Nothing
Jump the yo-yo straight up and bring your throw hand down over the
string landing the yo-yo on the string.
Finally jump the yo-yo straight up one more time and bring your non-
throw hand down over the string landing the yo-yo in something similar to
Triple or Nothing. Drop your throw hand pointer and roll out to Trapeze,
any dismount or Ferris wheel as in video.
66 - Kamikaze
Start with a Double or Nothing but instead of going around the pointer
finger of your non-throw hand, go around the thumb. This is called a
"Houdini Drop" (because if you drop your thumb you are back in
trapeze.)Pop yo-yo upwards towards the top string and let go of the
string hanging off your thumb at the same time. This should put you in
something similar to the Mach 5 hold.
Swing the yo-yo over your throw hand and around onto the back string.
Pull in your non-throw hand pointer finger and pop the yo-yo in front of
the strings and land it on top of all the strings.
Drop off your throw hand pointer and roll towards your non-throw hand.
You will be back in a trapeze, but you want to continue the motion and
perform a Magic Drop as described in Shockwave. (You want to try and
make it one fluent motion.)
Roll the yo-yo towards your throw hand side into the string, undo it
missing the string and land completely back around on the other side.
Then undo it again finally landing it back into a Trapeze.

25
Any dismount or flyaway dismount as seen in the video.

67 - White Buddha
Throw the beginning of One and a Half Mount landing the yo-yo on the
top string and letting it bounce down to the bottom string.
Swing the yo-yo over into a One and a Half Mount.
Swing the yo-yo completely over your throw hand and ending on the
opposite side of your non-throw hand.
Using your throw hand thumb and pointer spread open the string and pop
the yo-yo out through the triangle.
Jump the yo-yo back through the triangle back to where you started in
step 4.
Swing the yo-yo all the way back into a One and a Half Mount.
Pull your finger on your non-throw hand in towards yourself and swing the
yo-yo under your throw hand pointer landing it on the string.
Drop the string off the front of your non-throw hand pointer finger and
roll the yo-yo over your hand without moving your non-throw hand. (You
will notice that you will have to pull your non-throw hand pointer finger in
towards yourself to hold onto the string.
Swing the string over the throw hand pointer and back into a One and a
Half Mount.
Swing the yo-yo completely over your throw hand and ending on the
opposite side of your non-throw hand. Bring your throw hand into the
string causing the yo-yo to double up underneath. Drop the string off
your throw hand pointer and pull. The yo-yo should bind on the string for
a second, and after a quick tug should fall out under the string. Land
back into trapeze and perform any dismount.
68 - Superman
Begin with a Spirit Bomb Mount as in Spirit Bomb and continue through to
just before you would make the first pop up.
Open the triangle being formed with your throw hand, and pop the yo-yo
up and into it from the inside landing it back on the middle string.
Using your non-throw hand bring the yo-yo double on the string. Make
sure to make an L shape with your throw hand. Then rock the yo-yo back
the other way under, and over your throw hand. A string should drop off

26
similar to in Magic Drop, landing the yo-yo on the front string.

Pop the yo-yo straight up and back onto the middle string from the
front. You will notice this is where you started in step 3.
Bring your finger in towards the string on the yo-yo and land the yo-yo
on it, similar to how you dismount, except do this towards the front.
Slowly rock the yo-yo towards your throw hand and up and through that
small triangle, allowing it to land back onto the middle string, but from
the back.
Dismount as you do at the end of Spirit Bomb.
69 - Whip To Slack
Start with a Breakaway. As if you were going to whip the string into the
yo-yo, swing your throw hand and bring the yo-yo into the air.
It is recommended that you learn Yuuki's Slack Trick before attempting
this trick. As you swing the yo-yo up, pinch the yo-yo string with your
non-throw hand relatively close to the yo-yo and proceed to spin the yo-
yo into the hanging string. Continue around an extra rotation just as in
Yuuki's Slack trick.
Again, just as in Yuuki's slack unmount the yo-yo and swing back around,
but this time you can allow it to completely swing around to bring it back
onto the string.
Again, this is similar to Yuuki's Slack Trick, so pinch with your non-throw
hand and spin around in the opposite rotation from Step 2.

You should end this in a Double or Nothing. Any dismount.

70 - Double Suicide
Start with a Trapeze. Just as in Skin the Gerbil bring your throw hand
pointer finger down into the string and land the yo-yo double on.
Just as the yo-yo hits the string let go with your non-throw hand and
allow the loop to swing around the yo-yo twice in mid air. Catch the
Suicide just as a regular Suicide.
Note: It is very important to do this in one smooth motion in order to
create a large enough loop to catch.
You should land into a Trapeze. Any dismount.

27
71 - Double Iron Whip
Start with a Trapeze. Swing the yo-yo back off and use your non-throw
hand middle finger to hold onto the string. Bring it all the way around
your throw hand wrist and land onto both strings.
As the yo-yo comes down on the string, let go of it with your non-throw
hand middle finger, and circle around the yo-yo with your throw hand
holding onto the string. On the second pass, just as in Iron Whip help
guide the string down and in towards the gap of the yo-yo.
Note: It is important to do this in one motion to keep up the momentum
of the string spinning around the yo-yo.
You will finish in the same hold as Iron Whip. Any dismount.

72 - Yuuki Slack
Start with a Trapeze.
Pinch the string between your non-throw hand thumb and pointer finger.
Use that pinch to spin the yo-yo clockwise around. As you do so the loop
of the string should follow the yo-yo around. As it does bring your throw
hand pointer finger in towards the loop. This will make the loop bigger
and allow you to catch it with your pointer finger.
You should be in something similar to a Double or Nothing with the string
over your non-throw hand wrist. Jump the yo-yo off the string it is
landed on and bring it up and underneath.
As you hit the string underneath pinch the string again between your
thumb and pointer finger of your non-throw hand. Continue the same
swinging motion, letting go of the string from your throw hand and
allowing it to spin around again. After the yo-yo has made two full
rotations around insert your throw hand pointer finger back into the
string.
Without stopping let the yo-yo roll out and back over your non-throw
hand pointer. As soon as it hits the string, pinch it.
Allow to rotate again, twice around before reinserting your throw hand
pointer finger. (Repeat trick however many times you want, then move to
Step 7.)
You again will be in something similar to a Double or Nothing. Any
dismount.

28
73 - Thumb Grind to Triangle
Begin with a Spirit Bomb mount as in Spirit Bomb. Pop the yo-yo out the
front of the Spirit Bomb mount. Hold onto the triangle with your non-
throw hand.
Bring your throw hand down towards the yo-yo and guide your thumb into
the inner groove. Let the yo-yo sit on your thumb and process as you
bring it towards the loop being held by your hand.
As the yo-yo turns around towards the loop, make a small throwing
motion towards the string to throw the yo-yo into the newly created
triangle. If it needs to be straightened use the string to do so.
Pop the yo-yo out of the triangle on the side closest to your body. Land
the yo-yo back onto your string and return the yo-yo to your hand.
74 - Hour Glass
Start with a one and a half mount.
Just as in “And Whut?” swing the yo-yo over towards your non-throw
hand, and let it fall out towards the front of the string. The exception
this time is instead of landing the yo-yo into the string, pull your non-
throw hand in and create a loop of string held by your thumb and fingers.
Using your throw hand maneuver the yo-yo onto the far string being held
by your non-throw hand fingers.
Again using your throw hand guide the yo-yo into the open loop of string
held by your non-throw hand, allow to swing around and land back where
it originally was.
Then simply undo exactly what you did in Step 4, going backwards
through the triangle, and do an extra spin towards the front before
landing back where it originally was. If done correctly this will look very
smooth.

Repeat Step 4.

Repeat Step 5.

Swing the yo-yo off the string, dropping everything off your hands and
return the yo-yo to a Trapeze. Return to your hand.
75 - Plan D

29
Start with a mount similar to a Double or Nothing with the first wrap of
the string over your thumb rather than your pointer.
Pinch the string between your thumb and pointer finger and allow the loop
of string to hand down.
Bring that loop down towards the yo-yo, and use your non-throw hand
thumb to then grab that loop. Swing the yo-yo and land it on the string
closest to your non-throw hand pointer finger.
Jump the yo-yo out of the hold and land it this time on the string
hanging from your throw hand pointer finger.
Swing the yo-yo back out and over your non-throw hand pointer. This
should be a similar hold to Step 3 without the extra wrap on your pointer
finger.
Swing the yo-yo back off the string, towards the left, under your non-
throw hand arm and then up onto the string closest to your body.
Then swing the yo-yo out the front of the hold to the right and then up
and over the string hanging off your throw hand pointer finger. As soon
as the yo-yo hits drop the string hanging from your throw hand pointer
finger.
Swing again off and over your non-throw hand pointer finger and land
onto the string.
Again, in a motion similar to Step 6, swing the yo-yo off, under your
non-throw hand and back onto the string connected to your throw hand
middle finger.
Drop all the strings off your throw hand, and return the yo-yo to a
Trapeze. Any dismount.
NOTE: Watching the First Person View may help the understanding of
these moves.
76 - Ladder Escape
The mount for this trick is commonly referred to as a "Ladder Mount."
Start with a movement similar to a Double or Nothing, but as you would
come around your throw hand pointer finger, swing the yo-yo towards the
back and around. As you do this it is important to twist your pointer
finger down and in towards yourself to undo the loop of string around it.
Continue swinging the yo-yo up and over to your pointer finger. Swing the
yo-yo back off the string, holding onto the string it was just on between
your middle and index finger.

30
Using your pointer and thumb of your throw hand bring the yo-yo up and
down into the little area of string being held open, and swing the yo-yo
back and onto the string hanging from your non-throw hand middle finger.
Pop the yo-yo off the string, and swing around to land on the string
hanging off your throw hand pointer finger. As soon as it lands drop all
of the strings off your non-throw hand.
Swing the yo-yo back over your non-throw hand pointer finger. Drop the
string off your thumb and then reinsert it from underneath. Using your
wrist take the loop and swing it up and back over, again grab that with
your thumb and hold open.
Swing the yo-yo through the open loop two times then bring your non-
throw hand pointer finger under the yo-yo and pinch the string with your
middle finger.
Position the loop being held with your throw hand thumb and then let drop
and swing down into the gap of the yo-yo. As soon as it hits the yo-yo
release the pinch between your non-throw hand pointer and middle finger
and allow the yo-yo to fall into the triangle being held with your thumb.
Pop the yo-yo out of the triangle towards the front back into a Trapeze,
and return to your hand.
