Child Labor In El Salvador

The issue that I will research about is Child Labor in Central America, as I was doing some
research about the specific topic I wanted to talk about, I came across several articles that
talked about child labor in El Salvador. And I was surprised to see young children of the age of 5
that are working already due to the poverty that they are facing. They have no other option but
to work alongside their parents. In my essay I will go into depth about the dangerous
environment young children have to work in. And this is something pretty well known in Central
America. It is not only happening in El Salvador but also in other countries and it is upsetting to
see this happening upon our eyes. And as I will be researching this topic (Child labor in El
Salvador) I hope to learn about this issue and its important to bring awareness about this.
There are a few perspectives about this topic, nowadays it’s rare to see child labor in El
Salvador or any other Central American country, but back then it was normal for a child to drop
out of school and to start working at a young age, there was nothing wrong with it. I decided to
not talk about immigration, because I wanted to research another topic, that is when I came
across the topic of Child Labor. As someone who was born here, here we go to school, we can’t
work at a young age. We are so unaware of what’s happening around the world, this issue is not
talked about enough. For example my dad, he didn’t get too far in his education because he had
to begin working alongside his father at the age of 6, because there wasn’t enough money to
buy food. They didn’t have no other choice, it was normalized .
