INTRODUCTION

Hummingbirds are native beings of almost all ecosystems, temperate forests, humid jungles,
deserts, even in the most mountainous and highest peaks of the entire American continent. These
beautiful little birds of barely 2-4 grams stand out among pollinating beings; They have sharp
vision, iridescent feathers on their necks, short feet, a long and thin beak, a tubular tongue that
rolls up around the head, which is longer than the beak and with which the hummingbird sucks
nectar from the flowers. It is known as chupa rosa, Huitzil (precious thorn in Nahuatl) or flower
pica of the trochilinae family, currently in Mexico there are 57 subspecies, these specimens are 12
cm long and weigh 5 grams, they fly from 50 km/h to 95 km/h. h emigrate 6000 kilometers from
Alaska to Canada to reach Mexican territories, the hummingbird builds its nest in the shape of a
cup with remains of thread, with branches, even with feathers and they build it by means of the
tongue these birds usually lay up to two white eggs , the gestation period of the females lasts from
14 to 19 days, and during the incubation period the females tend to be very territorial, becoming
aggressive even with the same species. The females feed their babies for 3 to 4 weeks;
unfortunately some usually die in the first few days during the incubation period.
CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

The life span of hummingbirds is 4 years, but specimens have been recorded that have reached up
to twelve years of life. These little birds emit a buzz with their wings, which can beat up to 80
times per second; and during mating season, they can do it up to 200 times per second as a form
of courtship for females the hummingbird's diet consists mainly of tree sap, nectar and pollen
from flowers, and this is very important, since the Hummingbird is one of the main pollinating
species. The ecological role of the hummingbird is very fundamental for the conservation of flora,
since when these birds release pollen from the colors, they usually collect it with their heads to
take it to other flowers and thus begin to pollinate at the same time as they feed these birds are
the only species of bird that can fly in all directions the hummingbird cannot emit vocalizations,
but they tend to chirp as a form of communication like many other birds, hummingbirds conserve
part of their energy reducing their metabolism, approximately 1/15th at the normal speed there
are 343 species of hummingbirds on the planet, of which 50 come to reproduce rse to Mexican
territory the bee hummingbird is the smallest bird species in the world weighing 2.2 gr and the
largest hummingbird can weigh 20 gr their feeding is very constant, since they feed 8 times per
hour they sleep upside down in the trees
