Introduction
The TVS Group is one of India's largest industrial conglomerates. TV Sundram Iyengar and Sons
Limited, established in 1911, is the parent and holding company of the TVS Group.
TVS Motor Company is the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India and one among the top ten in
the world, with annual turnover of more than USD 1 billion in 2008-2009, and is the flagship company of
the USD 4 billion TVS Group. With a workforce of over 5000, the company has 4 plants - located at
Hosur and Mysore in South India, in Himachal Pradesh, North India and one at Indonesia.
The company has a production capacity of 300 thousand units a year.
TVS and Sons also distribute Heavy Duty Commercial Vehicles, Jeeps and Cars. It represents premier
automotive companies like Ashok Leyland, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., Fiat and Honda. It
also distributes automotive spare parts for several leading manufacturers.
TVS & Sons has grown into a leading logistics solution provider and has set up state-of-the-art
warehouses all over the country. It has also diversified into distributing Garage equipment that ranges
from paint booths to engine analyzers and industrial equipment products.

History of TVS Motor Company

TVS Motor Company is an Indian multinational motorcycle manufacturer based in Chennai, India. The

Venu Srinivasan is an engineer and an MBA from Purdue University (USA) and took over as the CEO of
Sundaram-Clayton, the holding Company of TVS Motor, in 1979. In the same year, TVS Motor
Company was born and under Venu Srinivasan's persistent and diligent work grew to be the third largest
two-wheeler manufacturing unit in India. He is currently the Chairman Emeritus of the Company.

Hard work, persistence and self-belief maketh the man Venu Srinivasan. He began his career as a
mechanic in his own garage during vacations and put in long, gruelling hours of preparation for his task
ahead. With the success of TVS, he has demonstrated that an Indian company can grow to be a company
of global quality and recognition and manufacture products which would match or even exceed the best in
the world by adopting the right work ethos and successful work culture. A perfectionist and a visionary,
Venu Srinivasan pioneered the TQM (Total Quality Management) concept based on the Japanese model,
long before most enterprises in India did. His obsession with excellence and quality bore rich dividends
with Sundaram Clayton and TVS Motor Company winning the global quality benchmark - the Deming
Application Prize in 2002. Venu Srinivasan, is the first Industrialist from India to be conferred with the
Deming ‘Distinguished Service Award for Dissemination and Promotion Overseas’ in the year 2019, for
his contributions in the field of Total Quality Management (TQM). The Deming Prize is the highest
award for TQM in the world. Deming ‘Distinguished Service Award for Dissemination and Promotion
Overseas’ is given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in the dissemination and

In 2014, Venu Srinivasan was felicitated by the President of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Lee
Myung-Bak with a distinguished civilian honour 'Order of Diplomatic Service Merit' in recognition of his
valuable contribution in promoting Korea-India bilateral relations. This award is conferred for meritorious
service to the extension of national prestige overseas and to the promotion of friendship with other
nations.Venu Srinivasan, was conferred with the prestigious JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award in the
year 2004, by the All-India Management Association (AIMA)

The University of Warwick, Coventry, Warwick shire honoured Venu Srinivasan with a Doctorate
Degree in Science in 2004, recognition of his excellence in manufacturing and contribution in the field of
Technology and Research & Development. The honour comes in recognition of the pivotal role played by
Venu Srinivasan in elevating TVS Motor Company to the position of a leading manufacturer of two-

Prof Sir Ralf Dieter Speth –Chairman, TVS Motor Company

Prof Sir Ralf Dieter Speth, holds a Dipl. Wirt. Ing (FH) from the University of Rosenheim and a
Doctorate in Engineering from the University of Warwick.
He began his career in BMW and did his PhD at Warwick Manufacturing Group, University of Warwick.
Later, he joined Ford Motor Company's Premier Automotive Group (PAG) where he was responsible for
product planning and quality. He then moved to the chemical giant Linde where he ran global operations.
An outstanding engineer with exemplary experience from some of the highest echelons of the Global
Automotive industry. He has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR). During
his stint at JLR, he developed strategies, designs, styling, and products making it one of the most
respected automotive and luxury brands in the world. Sir Ralf is widely acclaimed for his tremendous
leadership at JLR and for transforming it into the global marquee it is today. He continues to serve on the
board of JLR as Vice Chairman.
In early 2010, he became a member of the Tata Motors board and in 2016, Ratan Tata appointed him to
the Supervisory Board of Tata Sons Ltd. The Royal Academy of Engineering invited Sir Speth in 2014 to
join its Fellowship. In 2018, Sir Ralf was awarded a Knight of the British Empire.
Sir Ralf has passion for technology, deep knowledge and tremendous connect with the current global
automotive industry including in terms of engineering, marketing, and people.

Sudarshan Venu –Managing director,TVS Motor company

Sudarshan Venu, holds a Graduate Degree with Honors in the Jerome Fisher Program in Management and
Technology from the University of Pennsylvania. He also obtained a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
from the School of Engineering and a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School. Mr. Venu completed
his M.Sc. in International Technology Management from the Warwick Manufacturing Group attached to
the University of Warwick in U.K. Sudarshan Venu, being an automotive enthusiast, grew up amidst the
roar of engines of India’s oldest factory racing team. Driven by passion, he has motorbiked in 4
continents. These experiences suit Sudarshan Venu well, as he charts the future of one of India’s leading
2-wheeler manufacturer,. Under Sudarshan Venu’s leadership, TVS Motor has already seen a turnaround
in the Market Share and has been the Most Awarded Two - Wheeler Company.
Sudarshan has played a pivotal role in the international expansion of TVS Motor Company in Africa,
ASEAN and Latin America. He was recognised as a GenNext leader of India Inc. by Forbes India, a
leading business magazine. He is also the Managing Director of TVS Holdings Limited, the holding
Company and the Chairman of TVS Credit Services Limited, NBFC arm of the group.

4. K N Radhakrishnan – Director and CEO, TVS Motor Company

K N Radhakrishnan – Director and CEO, TVS Motor Company

K N Radhakrishnan, holds a Master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and has
also undertaken a Management Education Program from the Indian Institute of Management,
Ahmedabad.

He started his career as Management Trainee in Sundaram-Clayton Limited, the holding Company. Mr
Radhakrishnan held the position of Executive Vice President (India operations) followed by President &
CEO, TVS Motor Company before assuming his current role.
With decades of leadership skills, he has played a crucial role in transforming TVS Motor to become a
reputed two-wheeler manufacturer in India and among top 10 two-wheeler manufacturers globally. His
relentless efforts and commitment have helped the company win the prestigious Deming Application
Prize in 2002 from the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers, Japan and the prestigious TPM
Excellence Award from Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance in 2004. With him at the helm, the company
commenced its overseas plant in Indonesia in 2007 and entered the three-wheeler segment in 2008. He is
also on the board of subsidiary companies.

C.R.Dua- Independent Director

Mr Dua is an honours graduate of St. Stephen’s College with a Master’s degree in Economics from the
Delhi School of Economics. He founded Dua Associates, Advocates & Solicitors over thirty years ago.
He is currently the Chairman of the firm and engaged in providing strategic advice and direction for its
further growth and development.

Mr Dua’s experience covers a broad range of areas relating to Corporate and Commercial matters,
Corporate Finance, Securities, Infrastructure and aspects of Public Policy and Administration,
Governance and Ethics.

He is the Chairman of the Board of Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Limited and also acts as
an Independent Director on the board of several companies. He is a founding member of the American
Chamber of Commerce in India and an invitee to its National Executive Board.

6. Mr R.Gopalan – Director

Mr R Gopalan holds a Master's Degree in Economics from Boston University and a Master's Degree in
Public Administration and Management from the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard
University.

He served till April 2016 as a member of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) under the control
of the Prime Minister. Served as Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance,
Government of India till 31st July, 2012 before retirement.
Mr R Gopalan has handled matters related to Capital Markets, Infrastructure Finance, G-20, World Bank
(WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Budget preparation, Public
Private Partnership (PPP), Directorate of Currency and other related matters pertaining to the economy.
Prior to this assignment, he was a Secretary in the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance
and was in charge of banking, insurance and pension reforms.
As a special secretary in the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, he served as
the Director General, Anti-Dumping and Anti-Subsidy Investigations, and was also a Director on the
Boards of MMTC, STC and PEC Ltd. During his long and varied career in the Govt of India, he held
several key assignments, such as the Joint Secretary, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council
(NMCC); Joint Secretary in Commerce Department in charge of WTO and FTA negotiations; Joint
Secretary in charge of export promotion division in the Commerce Ministry; and CMD, Tamil Nadu
Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).
He is also on the board of several Indian companies.

Kuok Meng Xiong – Managing Director

Mr Meng Xiong is the Founder & Managing Partner of K3 Ventures, a Singapore-based venture
capital investment firm. In the last 8 years, he has invested in and partnered with visionary
founders of category-leading companies that drive innovation in today's world. The K3 Ventures
portfolio comprises 70 companies including ByteDance, Grab, Palantir, Planet, Perfect Day,
Aspiration, Genki Forest, SpaceX, Airbnb and Next Gen Foods.

MX serves as a director on the boards of ByteDance (Singapore), Next Gen Foods, SoCash,
Logivan, and the Anglo-Chinese Schools Foundation. He is also a Senior Advisor to TPG
Capital.
MX started his career at the Group’s Shangri La Hotels, expanding it to Europe, West Asia and
Sri Lanka. He started the venture firm K3 where he has led early investments in most of the
world’s leading startups in technology field and many Asian unicorns.
Mr Kuok's strengths include his experience of helping build and manage a hotel chain, as well
as growing up in a family that values relationships over short-term monetary gains.
Mr Meng Xiong is the scion of the reputed Kuok Group in Singapore and from one of Asia’s
most respected business houses running Wilmar, one of the largest grain trading business,
Shangri La Hotels and real estate business globally.

H K Singh- Director

Ambassador Hemant Krishan Singh, holds an M.A. degree from the University of Delhi and
served in the Indian Foreign Service from 1974-2010 and is a distinguished former career
diplomat with extensive experience of geo-strategic and geo-economic issues as well as
multilateral institutions which underpin international law and commerce.

He has been India’s longest serving Ambassador to Japan (2006-2010), Ambassador to


Indonesia and Timor Leste (2003-2006), Ambassador to Colombia, Ecuador and Costa Rica
(1999-2002), and India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva (1995-1999).
He has held several significant assignments during his career, dealing with the United States,
West Europe and the European Union and India’s immediate neighbours.
Since June 2016, Ambassador Singh has been the Director General, Delhi Policy Group, which
is among India’s oldest independent think tanks focused on strategic and international issues of
critical national interest.

Dr. Lakshmi Venu, is a graduate of Yale University, and holds a Doctorate in Engineering
Management from the University of Warwick. She underwent her initial training in Sundaram
Auto Components Limited, a subsidiary of the Company. Thereafter, she underwent an
extensive in-depth induction at the Company. She had worked in the areas of business strategy,

Joint Managing Director of Sundaram – Clayton Limited, the holding Company from 2010.

Mr Sriram is an External Investment Committee member of British International Investment, UK.

Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi, has more than four decades of experience in the formulation of macro-
economic policies. Dr. Deepali Pant Joshi joined as a Direct Recruit Grade B officer in 1981 and
retired after a long and distinguished career as Executive Director. She headed various
departments in RBI including the Department of Rural Planning and Credit and Financial
Inclusion Department and Customer Service & Financial Education Department. During her long
