PT Vector Addition
GENERAL PHYSICS 1
Vector Addition
Performance Task #2
I. Objectives
At the end of this activity, the students will be able to:
1. Calculate directions and magnitudes of vectors;
2. Apply the learning on how to solve the resultant vector using analytic method; and
II. Materials
Vector Addition PhET simulation: https://phet.colorado.edu/sims/html/vector-addition/latest/vector-

4. Check the box for Values, Angle and Gridlines.
5. Drag one blue vector and place its tail on the origin. Set the vector’s magnitude and
direction however you like by dragging the head of the vector in the simulation. This
will be vector A.
6. Drag another blue vector and place its tail on the head of Vector A. Again, set the
vector’s magnitude and direction however you like by dragging the head of the vector
in the simulation. Do it again for the third time. The two new vectors shall be named
vector B and vector C.
7. Check the box for Sum to produce the resultant vector. Drag its tail on the origin.
The head of the resultant vector should touch the head of Vector C.
8. Click on any component view to see the breakdown of the vectors into their horizontal
and vertical components. You can also see the details of each vectors on the upper
pane of the simulation.

IV. Set - up
Required:
A. Screenshot of vector A
B. Screenshot of vectors A and B
C. Screenshot of vectors A, B, and C
D. Screenshot of vectors A, B, C, and Resultant (without components)
E. Screenshot of vectors A, B, C, and Resultant (with components)
F. Clear picture of your computations for ∑Rx
G. Clear picture of your computations for ∑Ry
H. Clear picture of your computations for R
I. Clear picture of your computations for θ
J. Picture of your entire solution paper
This part is not limited to one page only so you can edit your document as long as it still looks visually appealing.
Delete this textbox afterwards.
