INTRODUCTORY RITES
Introduction
Good morning, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. Welcome to this sacred Liturgical Celebration in Honor of St.
Elizabeth of Hungary. Today, we gather to be inspired by the profound teachings of Jesus, urging us to love our enemies,
do good to those who hate us, and extend compassion even in the face of adversity.
In the spirit of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, whose life exemplified selfless love and generosity, we come together to
celebrate the 18th Capping and Pinning Ceremony of our dedicated Nursing students. As they embark on this significant
milestone, let us offer our prayers and intentions for their journey ahead.
May these students, as they enter the noble profession of nursing, be guided by the words of Jesus—to love
unconditionally, to serve with humility, and to be a beacon of light and healing to those in need. Let us also extend our
collective intentions for their success, growth, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others.
As we reflect on the Gospel passage, let us strive to be instruments of love, mercy, and forgiveness, just as St. Elizabeth
of Hungary exemplified in her life. May this celebration be a source of inspiration for all, fostering a community bound
together by compassion, understanding, and the selfless pursuit of a better world.

Let us pray
O God, by whose gift Saint Elizabeth of Hungary recognized and revered Christ in the poor,
grant, through her intercession, that we may serve with unfailing charity
the needy and those afflicted. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns
with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

First Reading
1 Jn 3:14-18
A reading from the first Letter of Saint John

Beloved:
We know that we have passed from death to life
because we love our brothers.
Whoever does not love remains in death.
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer,
and you know that anyone who is a murderer
does not have eternal life remaining in him.
The way we came to know love
was that he laid down his life for us;
so we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.
If someone who has worldly means
sees a brother in need and refuses him compassion,
how can the love of God remain in him?
Children, let us love not in word or speech
but in deed and truth.

Jesus said to his disciples:


“To you who hear I say,
love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
To the person who strikes you on one cheek,
offer the other one as well,
and from the person who takes your cloak,
do not withhold even your tunic.
Give to everyone who asks of you,
and from the one who takes what is yours do not demand it back.
Do to others as you would have them do to you.
For if you love those who love you,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners love those who love them.
And if you do good to those who do good to you,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners do the same.
If you lend money to those from whom you expect repayment,
what credit is that to you?
Even sinners lend to sinners,
and get back the same amount.
But rather, love your enemies and do good to them,
and lend expecting nothing back;
then your reward will be great
and you will be children of the Most High,

CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

Prayer of the Faithful
Priest: Through the intercession of holy women let us pray for the Church in these words:
Be mindful of your Church, Lord.

1. Through all the women martyrs who conquered bodily death by their courage, strengthen your Church
in the hour of trial. We pray.
All: Be mindful of your Church, Lord.

2. Through married women who have advanced in grace by holy matrimony, make the apostolic mission of
your Church fruitful. We pray.
All: Be mindful of your Church, Lord.

3. Through widows who eased their loneliness and sanctified it by prayer and hospitality, help your Church
reveal the mystery of your love to the world. We pray.
All: Be mindful of your Church, Lord.

4. Through mothers who have borne children for the kingdom of God and the human community,
help your Church bring all men to a rebirth in life and salvation. We pray.

5. Through all your holy women who have been worthy to contemplate the light of your countenance,
let the deceased members of your Church exult in that same vision for ever. We pray.

6. For the nurses about to receive their capping and pinning, may their dedication and compassion shine as a
beacon of healing in the world. Grant them strength, skill, and a heart overflowing with the love of Christ as
they embark on their noble mission. We pray.

Priest:
Father, you helped Elizabeth of Hungary to recognize and honor Christ
in the poor of this world. Let her prayers help us to serve our brothers and sisters
in time of trouble and need. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with your and the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

Receive, O Lord, the offerings of your people, and grant that we who celebrate
your Son’s work of boundless charity, may, by the example of Saint Elizabeth,

COMMUNION RITE
The Lord’s Prayer
Priest: At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to sing:

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
