Abstract of NONFERROUS BOLTS, HEX CAP SCREWS,

ASTM F468M MATERIALS

1993 AND STUDS FOR GENERAL USE [METRIC]

IFI NOTES:

1. ASTM F468M is a specification developed through the procedures

of ASTM. F468M is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee F-16
on Fasteners.

2. This abstract presents the chemical and mechanical requirements

for externally threaded fasteners made of several alloys of nonfer-
rous materials. It omits those requirements dealing with referenced
documents, government prav/sioning. quality assurance. and inspec-
tion. For the omitted information. refer to the complete F468M. The
paragraph numbers throughout this abstract are those of the com-
plete F468M-93.

3. ISO 8839-1986 Mechanical Properties of Fasteners - Bolts, Screws,

Studs and Nuts Made of Nonferrous Metal - includes seven copper
and copper alloys and six aluminum and aluminum al/oys. The com-
positions are taken from ISO 209, ISO 426, ISO 427 and ISO 428.
This standard includes a minimum breaking torque for the various
al/oys in sizes thru MS and minimum breaking loads thru M39. The
material compositions do not match North American practice.

4. ASTM F46SM-93 is abstracted with permission from the Annual Book

of ASTM Standards, copyright American Society for Testing and
Materia/s, 100 Ba" Harbor Drive, West Conshohocken, PA 19428,
U.s .A.
