    The Water Supplies Department issues Circular Letter No. 2/2015 announcing that the validity period for general acceptance of water supply pipes and fittings is now 5 years from the date of issuance of the approval letter. Any pipes and fittings approved over 5 years ago require a fresh application. For plumbing works already submitted to the Waterworks Form WWO 46 before this circular, the listed pipes and fittings can still be installed even if their validity has expired. Pipes and fittings listed in future WWO 46 submissions must have valid general acceptance at the time of submission. The Water Authority reserves the right to withdraw approval before the 5 year period ends.

    Dear Sirs,

    WSD Circular Letter No. 2/2015


    Validity Period for General Acceptance
    of Water Supply Pipes and Fittings

    To strengthen the control of water supply pipes and fittings, with


    immediate effect, the general acceptance of water supply pipes and fittings would
    be valid for a maximum period of 5 years from the date of issuance of the
    approval letter.

    The above-mentioned validity period is also applicable to the general


    acceptance of water supply pipes and fittings given before issuance of this
    Circular Letter. As such, the validity of the general acceptance of water supply
    pipes and fittings given on or before 11 August 2010 will expire and fresh
    application for approval is required in accordance with the “Guideline
    on Application for Approval of Water Supply Pipes and Fittings” if they are
    to be installed in plumbing works covered by the Waterworks Regulations.

    For those plumbing works with Waterworks Form WWO 46 already


    submitted before issuance of this Circular Letter, the pipes and fittings listed in
    the Annex to the Form would be allowed to be installed in the relevant plumbing
    works even though their validity has expired.

    For Waterworks Form WWO 46 submitted after the issuance of this


    Circular Letter, the pipe and fittings listed in the Annex to the Form shall have
    valid general acceptance at the time of submission of the Form.

    The Water Authority shall have the right to withdraw the general
    acceptance of any pipes and fittings before expiry of their validity period.
