How to classify the Vessel according to the Radiography

performed

RT1:

All category A and D butt welds are fully radiographed, and any
category B and/ or C butt welds "which exceeds 10" in diameter or 1 1/8"

(29 mm) in thickness" are fully radiographed.

RT2:

All category A and B welds are from type (1) or (2), and category B or C
butt welds when intersecting with category A butt welds "on the shell
and heads only" to be spot radiographed at the intersection point;

at that time the joint efficiency (E) shall be increased from 0.85 to
1.0

RT3:

All longitudinal and circumferential butt welds on the vessel shell and/
or heads are spot radiographed and any category B and/ or C butt welds
"which exceeds 10" in diameter or 1 1/8" (29 mm) in thickness" are spot
radiographed.

RT4:

Part of longitudinal and circumferential butt welds on the vessel shell


and/ or heads is spot radiographed, or the requirements of RT1, RT2, or
RT3 does not meet.

Spot Radiography:

Is to examine at least 6" from the butt weld out of each 50ft. (15m)
