❑ Motivation

• We have electricity crisis in our country and number of vehicles on road is increasing

rapidly. These vehicles are producing a lot of potential energy. If we can use some of

those energy then we can produce considerable amount of electricity.

❑ Introduction

▪ Generate power from speed breaker.

▪ Using the vehicle potential energy as input.

▪ Force from the vehicle press down the speed breaker slightly.

▪ Using the movement of speed breaker it make the generator rotation.

▪ From the generator considerable energy can be produced and stored.

▪ This power can be used in road lights, traffic light system etc.
❑ Goal of the Project

➢ Expecting to produce approx. 0.5 Wh power for 1 vehicle passing over the speed breaker.

➢ If 5 vehicle per minute passes over the speed breaker-

▪ 150 Wh in 1 hour
▪ 3.6 kWh in 24 h
▪ 4 lane way has 2 speed breaker can produce 7.2 kWh in 24 hours.
❑ Real Life Like Problem

▪ Now a days renewable energy is a most trending technology.

▪ Generating electricity from speed breaker great source of renewable energy.

▪ Can produce power all over the year.

▪ A clean energy will not even save money but also the world.
❑ Socially Relevant

▪ Demand of electricity in Bangladesh is high.

▪ Frequency of traffics in roads are also high.

▪ Large number of speed breakers available.

▪ Eco friendly energy production.

❑ Design Based Solution
▪ Real life like problem

▪ Specifications based on requirements

▪ Multiple solutions and way to approach

▪ Prototype can be developed

❑ Complex engineering problems
➢ P1: Depth of knowledge required-
▪ Complete system generator to load required K3
▪ Design and simulation both circuit and the mechanical part required K5,K6.
▪ Design, implementation and knowing existing technology need to research that required K8.

➢ P3: Depth of analysis required

▪ 4 to 5 alternative solutions- Crank- Shaft, Rack and Pinion, Roller, Double crank shaft and
Hydraulic mechanism.
▪ Conflicts between cost, efficiency and complexity.
❑ Complex engineering problems
➢ P4: Familiarity of Issues
▪ To implement this project, we need civil and mechanical engineering knowledge.

➢ P7: Interdependence
