1. GENERAL

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide a standardized numbering system for AGT region technical documentation.
Historical codes used by AGT and are no longer required for use are recorded in separate document, BP-CDZZZZ-GE-SPE-
0001-01 “Legacy Codes of Technical Document Numbering Specification”

1.2 Implementation and Responsibility

The contents of this specification shall be adhered to by AIOC/BP and all Contractors/Sub-Contractors performing work for
AIOC/BP. AGT Document Management Team shall be responsible for the implementation of and compliance to this
document, ensuring input and communicating changes.

1.3 Coordination of Amendments

Amendments to this specification will be controlled by the document owner named on the front sheet.

The owner shall ensure that appropriate review and update processes are established to ensure that the various stakeholders
are consulted and informed of changes to the TDNS. The owner shall assess changes to determine the extent of consultation,
however as a guide, if a variation to the document numbering structure (including length of component parts) is proposed,
AGT DRE and/or TA review is required. Addition of extra contractor codes or other components does not require AGT
DRE/TA review.

The owner may delegate this responsibility to others if appropriate.

1.4 Using this document

Section 1 provides instructions and guidelines as to how to manage document numbering across AGT Region.

Section 2 gives the basic format for the document number that shall apply throughout the AGT Region.

Section 3 provides the various codes that form the components of the document number. Please note that some codes, for
example facility codes, also apply to equipment and therefore also appear in the Engineering Numbering Specification BP-
CDZZZZ-PM-SPE-0002. In order to avert the risk of differences between the Engineering Numbering Specification (ENS)
and the Technical Documentation Numbering Specification (TDNS) the master coding for such codes shall be preserved
within the ENS.

Section 4 provides guidance on document revision numbering.

1.5 Document number format diagrams

The diagrams in this document use the letter “A” to refer to alphanumeric characters (i.e. 0 to 9, or A to Z). The letter “N” is
used to denote numeric characters only (i.e. 0 to 9).

1.6 Electronic document management

Where a document number is used in transmittals, document registers, electronic document management systems and other
linked database systems where the document is referenced, strict rules need to be established for handling padding characters
such as hyphens to ensure successful transfer and/or retrieval of information from such systems.

1.7 Document number uniqueness

Application of the coding rules described in this document ensures uniqueness of document numbers that are shown on the
front sheet and on each page of documents. When transmitted as an electronic file, the filename shall include the revision
code.

2. DOCUMENT & DRAWING NUMBERING

2.1 Document & Drawing Numbering Format

All Technical Documents & Drawings (except for those noted in attachments to this document) shall be numbered according
to the following format:

2.2 Multidiscipline Design Documents/Drawings

Where a Document/Drawing covers two or more disciplines or document types, then the principal Discipline/Document Type
Code shall be included in the Document/ Drawing Number.

3.1 Contractor/Originator Codes

Each Contractor shall have a unique two-character code as listed below. This list will be expanded and revised for issue as
new contracts are placed.

3.5 Sequence Number

The four-digit document Sequence Number shall restart from 0001 for each different combination of Contractor Code, Area
Code, Discipline and Document Type. AGT Document Management Team shall be responsible for assigning the document
Sequence Number.

In case of allocation of system number based sequence numbers, the first two digits of four-digit Sequence Number shall be
selected from the system number list. Engineering Numbering Specification BP-CDZZZZ-IF-SPE-0003-00 describes these
codes in details.

3.6 Sheet Number

The two character sheet/section number is mandatory. Sheet Numbers shall be indicated in a separate box following the
Sequence Number for all documents. The Sheet Number makes the drawing unique and allows it to be issued, tracked and
revised separately.
For drawings and documents containing multiple datasheets, sheet numbering shall be from 01 to 99. If sheet/section
numbers are not required in a document the sheet number shall display “00” for documents, and 01 for drawings.

This section on sheet numbering does not apply to the numbering of piping isometrics which is covered in attachment A of
this document.

3.7 Life Cycle Code

The Statement of Requirements for Engineering Information Handover to Operations (BP-CDZZZZ-IF-SPE-0001-00)
describes in detail which document types are required for operations and the level of as-building required for each document
type.

4. Document Revision

4.1 Revision Codes

A 3-alpha-numeric Revision Code shall be assigned to a document to distinguish multiple issues of a document. The current
Revision code shall be indicated on the front sheet of the document or the drawing title block in a box following the unique
