CLASS -XII
Max. Marks :70 Time allowed : 3 hours
General Instructions:
Read the following instructions very carefully and strictly follow them :
i)There are 35 questions in the question paper. All questions are compulsory.
ii) The question paper has five sections –A,B,C,Dand E.
iii) Section–A has 18 questions of 1 marks each; Section–B has 7 questions of 2 marks each; Section- C
has 5 questions of 3 marks each and Section-D has 3 questions of 5 marks each. Section–E has 2
question CBQs of 4 marks each
iv) There is no overall choice. However, internal choices have been provided in some questions. A
student has to attempt only one of the alternatives in such questions.
SECTION – A
26.a)Calculate the work done in moving 2 mC charge on equipotential surface of electric potential of 5V .
b)Three charge q,Q,-3q are kept equidistance on a straight line , Calculate the value of ‘Q’ in such the
potential energy of entire system is zero.
27.How can we change a galvanometer into voltmeter and ammeter
28.Calculate electric potential at centre of a square whose side is 10√2 and charges at the vertex are A(
5mC ) ,B ( -7mC) ,C (-4mC ) and D ( 6mC ) respectively.
29.A solenoid of length 0.5 m has 5 layers. Each layer has number of turns of 300 .If it carry 5 A current
then find magnetic field at centre.
30.Two long straight parallel conductors carrying currents I1 and I2 are separated by a distance d. If the
currents are flowing in the same direction, show how the magnetic field produced by one exerts an
attractive force on the other. Obtain the expression for this force and Hence define 1 ampere.
SECTION -D
31.(a)Draw equipotential surfaces for (i)an electric dipole and (ii) two identical positive charges placed
near each other.
(b) In a parallel plate capacitor with air between the plates, each plate has an area of 6 x 10-3m2 and the
separation between the plates is 3 mm.
i. Calculate the capacitance of the capacitor.
ii. If the capacitor is connected to 100V supply, what would be the charge on each plate?
iii. How would charge on the plate be affected if a 3 mm thick mica sheet of k=6 is inserted between
the plates while the voltage supply remains connected ?
Or
(a)Three charges –q, Q and –q are placed at equal distances on a straight line. If the potential energy of
the system of these charges is zero, then what is the ratio Q:q?
(b)(i) Obtain the expression for the electric field intensity due to a uniformly charged spherical shell of
radius R at a point distant r from the centre of the shell outside it.
(ii) Draw a graph showing the variation of electric field intensity E with r, for r > R and r < R.
32.(a)Derived the expression for magnetic field at the centre of current carrying circular loop .
(b)What is Ampere’s swimming rule .
(c) A electron beam is moving from south to north direction over a magnetic needle the in which
direction north pole of magnetic needle show deflection .
Or
(a)What do you mean by super conductor.
(b)Write any two applications of super conductor.
(c)Which element behave as super conductor at 4.2K .
33.(a)Derive the expression of ohm’s law using concept of drift velocity.
(b)A wire of resistance R ohm is stretched to twice of its original length. What is the value of new
resistance.
(c)A wire of resistance R ohm is cut into two equal parts .What is the value of resistance of each part.
Or
(a)Three resistors 2 Ω, 4 Ω and 5 Ω are combined in parallel. What is the total resistance of the
combination?
(b) If the combination is connected to a battery of emf 20 V and negligible internal resistance, determine
the current through each resistor, and the total current drawn from the battery.
SECTION -E
34.Electric charge is the physical property of matter that causes it to experience a force when placed in
an electromagnetic field. There are two types of charges positive and negative charges. Also, like charges
repel each other whereas unlike charges attract each other.
(a)Charge on a body that carries 200 excess electrons is:
i. -3.2 × 10-18 C
ii. 3.2 × 10 18 C
iii. -3.2 × 10-17 C
iv. 3.2 × 10 -17 C
(b) Charge on a body that carries 10 excess electrons is:
i. -1.6 × 10-18 C
ii. 1.6 × 10 -18 C
iii. 2.6 × 10-18 C
iv. 1.6 × 10-21 C
( c) Mass of electron is:
i. 9.1 × 10-31 kg
ii. 9.1 × 10-31 g
iii. 1.6 × 10-19 kg
iv. 1.6 × 10-19 g
(d) A body is positively charged, it implies that:
i. There is only a positive charge in the body
ii. There is positive as well as negative charge in the body but the positive charge is more than the
negative charge
iii. There is equally positive and negative charge in the body but the positive charge lies in the outer
regions
iv. The negative charge is displaced from its position
(e) On rubbing, when one body gets positively charged and the other negatively charged, the electrons
transferred from the positively charged body to the negatively charged body are:
i. Valence electrons only
ii. Electrons of inner shells
iii. Both valence electrons and electrons of the inner shell.
iv. None of the above
