ROBOTIC VACUUM CLEANER

Autonomous robotic vacuum cleaner which has a limited vacuum floor cleaning
system combined with sensors and robotic drives with programmable controllers and
cleaning routines. A robotic vacuum is good at detecting boundaries. With sensors
and a protective buffer, it can not only prevent itself from being damaged but also
can avoid damaging the furniture. It can also detect walls and stairs and will
automatically turn around when it comes across either one.
SPECIFICATIONS OF ROBOT

iRobot is a well-known manufacturer of robotic vacuum cleaners, including the

popular Roomba series. The specifications of specific iRobot models may vary, but
here are some general specifications and features commonly found in Roomba
robotic vacuum cleaners.

1. Cleaning System:

Roomba vacuums use a combination of brushes, rollers, and suction to effectively

clean floors. Multi-surface cleaning capabilities for carpets, hardwood floors, and
more.

2. Navigation Technology:

Advanced sensors and navigation technology to avoid obstacles and map the
cleaning area. Some models may include visual navigation or smart mapping
features.

3. Battery Life:

Battery life can vary by model, typically ranging from around 60 minutes to 120
minutes per charge. Some models have the "Recharge and Resume" feature,
allowing the robot to recharge and continue cleaning if needed.

4. Cleaning Modes:

Different cleaning modes such as "Auto," "Spot," and "Edge" for customized
cleaning.

5. Height and Dimensions:

Roomba robots are typically compact and have a low profile to fit under furniture
and reach tight spaces.

DEGREE OF FREEDOM

1. Roomba Vacuum Cleaners:

Most Roomba vacuum cleaners are designed for floor cleaning and typically have
a relatively simple mobility system. They typically have two main degrees of
freedom: translational movement on the floor (in x and y directions) and rotational
movement (yaw) to change direction. Some advanced Roomba models may include
additional degrees of freedom for improved maneuverability or specialized cleaning
features.

2. iRobot Create/Root Platform:

iRobot has platforms like the Create and Root for educational and research
purposes. The number of degrees of freedom can vary depending on how the robot is
configured. It might include wheels for translational motion and caster wheels for
stability.

SPEED OF AN IROBOT

The speed of an iRobot, like a Roomba vacuum cleaner, can vary depending on the
model and the cleaning mode it's operating in

1. Cleaning Speed:

- Roomba vacuum cleaners are designed to clean efficiently rather than move
quickly. The cleaning speed is typically slower than a human vacuuming manually.
This slower speed allows the robot to navigate obstacles, avoid collisions, and clean
effectively.

2. Navigation Speed:

- Roomba robots use intelligent navigation algorithms that can adjust their speed
based on the cleaning environment. They may slow down when approaching
obstacles or speed up when moving across open areas.

3. Efficiency vs. Speed:

While Roombas might not be the fastest cleaning option, they are designed for
efficiency and thorough cleaning. The goal is to clean every part of the floor
effectively, even if it takes a bit more time.

ROBOTIC PAYLOAD:

In robotics, the payload refers to the maximum weight or mass that a robot's arm,
gripper, or end-effector can lift, manipulate, or transport. Payload capacity is a
critical specification for industrial robots, as it determines their suitability for
specific tasks, such as lifting heavy objects in manufacturing.
RESOLUTION

1. Cleaning Resolution:

In the context of robotic vacuum cleaners like Roomba, the cleaning resolution
typically refers to the vacuum's ability to effectively pick up dirt, dust, and debris
from the floor. It's not described in the same way as display or image resolution. The
cleaning resolution of a Roomba depends on factors such as the design of its
brushes, suction power, and cleaning patterns. Roomba models are designed to
provide thorough cleaning coverage and effective dirt removal from various floor
surfaces.

2. Navigation and Mapping Resolution:

Some advanced Roomba models feature mapping and navigation technologies that
allow them to create a digital map of the cleaning area. In this context, "resolution"
can refer to the level of detail and accuracy in the map created by the robot. A higher
navigation resolution means the robot can better understand the layout of your
home, including obstacles and furniture. Models with advanced navigation and
mapping may have features like visual mapping or laser-based mapping for more
precise navigation

3D ENVELOPE

This 3D envelope includes the robot's physical dimensions, such as its height, width,
and depth, as well as its range of motion and sensing capabilities. Understanding the
3D envelope is essential for various aspects of the robot's design, navigation, and
interaction with its environment

1. Physical Dimensions:

The 3D envelope encompasses the physical size and shape of the robot, including
its height (how tall it is), width (how wide it is), and depth (how deep it is). These
dimensions are important for determining whether the robot can fit under furniture,
move through doorways, and navigate around obstacles.

2. Clearance and Obstacle Avoidance:

Roomba and similar robots are equipped with sensors to detect obstacles and
avoid collisions. The 3D envelope plays a role in defining the robot's safe clearance
from obstacles to prevent collisions during operation.

3. Range of Motion:

- Some Roomba models have robotic arms or attachments, and the 3D envelope
would describe the reach and range of motion of these components.

4. Sensing and Mapping:

- When the robot uses sensors and cameras for navigation and mapping, the 3D
envelope helps determine the range and field of view of these sensors

SPECIAL CONFIGURATION

1. Cleaning Preferences:

You can often customize cleaning preferences such as the number of cleaning
passes, cleaning speed, and cleaning intensity.

2. Cleaning Schedules:

Set up specific cleaning schedules to have your Roomba clean at certain times and
on specific days of the week.

3. Multi-Room Cleaning:

Some Roomba models offer a multi-room cleaning feature that allows you to
clean multiple rooms in a specific order.

4. Zone Cleaning:

Certain models may support zone cleaning, where you can specify areas or rooms
for targeted cleaning.

5. Voice Commands:

Configure voice commands if your Roomba supports voice assistants like

Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

6. Cleaning Maps:
For models with mapping capabilities, you can often view cleaning maps and
history through the mobile app
