A reaction paper on "How Communication Makes Us Human," a TED Talk by Prof. Scott-
Phillips.

Prof. Scott-Phillips' speech began in an original way in order to grab

the audience's attention and prepare them for his main point on how communication makes us
human. Communication is able to accomplish a wide range of goals. The ideal approach to
explain yourself, in the opinion of professor Thom Scott Philips, depends on how you say
what you want to say. Moreover, because they typically function simultaneously or in
tandem, there are a lot of things that may be said and done with words as well as non-verbal
gestures. Your message's content is determined by the words you use, but nonverbal cues like
body language and facial expressions add context, emotion, and additional layers of meaning.
The saying "if you could say it with words, there'd be no reason to paint" is occasionally
attributed to the well-known American painter Edward Hopper. The quotation explains that
visual arts, like as painting, can communicate feelings, thoughts, experiences, or emotions
that are difficult to express with words. To put it another way, the arts can convey deep
emotions that words alone might not be able to. When used in relation to the concept of
communication, this statement highlights the unique power of various forms of expression.
Language is a powerful instrument for sharing ideas and information, yet it may not always
be adequate for conveying daily life. In essence, the quotation explains a variety of
communication channels. And if everyone is able to communicate their own sentiments and
emotions, there is no need for anyone to paint or utilize another form of communication in
order to make one another understandable. The professor is attempting to make the
comparison between the berries and a communication. He is highlighting the fact that there is
still communication taking place, whether it be by words, gestures, or both, but that there are
still intentions to show up. Everything we do with our intents and interactions is
communication. agree wholeheartedly. Human communication is varied in a wide variety of
ways. In addition to verbal or written communication, people may express themselves
through body language, facial expressions, and other means. Human communication can
legitimately be described as "special" because of our ability to communicate complex ideas,
put ideas into words, and even talk about things. As a result of our communication for
purposes of intention and our status as the higher living species, human communication is
truly "diverse" and "special."
